British passport and school fee

I would like to ask if I have British passport, then will my kid pay reduced school fee if she goes to public school in UK? How much money do I expect to spend on her schooling and living in UK for one year (secondary school)?
How about private and boarding school?
Pls kindly sharre withme your expert advice.

If your DD has British passport, she can apply for state boarding school.  There is no school fee for state boarding schools and the annual boarding fee is ranging from 8,500 pounds to 11,000 pounds.

For private / independent schools, your DD would not enjoy reduced school fee except for awarding a scholarship.  The school fee of independent school is ranging from 22,000 pounds to 33,000 pounds.

There are 3 half-term exeats and 3 full term breaks each year. For 3 half-term exeats of about 6 weeks, your DD has to stay in the host family unless she returns to HK.  My son's guardian co charges me 1,300 pounds for the guardianship fee and 40 pounds per day for staying in the host family during term breaks.  So the annual guradianship fee is about 3,000 pounds.

Besides guradianship fee, you have to pay for 3-round tickets for 3 full term breaks which means you have to pay for about HK30,000 for 3 round-trip non-direct flight tickets or about HK$48,000 for direct flight tickets.  If your DD returns 6 times per year like one of my friends, you have to pay for about HK$96,000 for 6 BA tickets.

Other mis. fee includes extra English tuition fee, pocket money, etc which may add up to several thousand pounds.  If you accompany your DD to UK school, you may spend for extra HK$20,000.  What's more, some prestigious school may charge you for over 900 pounds for school uniform.

you will find that it is not nationality but citizenship that will get you the above benefit. There is a different.

Unlike full boarding school, I have to pay an extra cost of two days' host family expenses every week.  Also, my son needs to buy 24 pounds train ticket and has to travel for a total of 2 hours alone for travelling between the school and host family every week.

It happened once for my son to take 5 hours to reach the host family for a normal 1 hour journey as the train and coach stopped for the snow storm.  

Unless the host family is so close to the school, it is better to choose full boarding school than weekly boarding school.

Do you buy a direct flight air-ticket for your DS?  

I am informed by my agency that BA ticket is nearly 20K, nearly double price than Qatar.

If your child hv British passport,  no need to pay any school fees in public schools, if boarding,  then u need to pay the boarding fee.
If state school, u need to pay a portion school fee.
If private schools, of cuz u need to pay school fee.

nope, they have now inserted a rule- you must be in the uk for a reason other than study.

以前係英國滿十年就可以申請永居, 而家唔得喇, 好似係加多左條件, 係畢業後6個月內搵到工作,年收入仲要係要求之內先可以留係英國, 否則一到6個月就要離境。

As a result none of friends stayed in the uk. Not many people get the job that meet the visa standard.

IC, oh, 2 hours every weekend is too much. If I were you, I would choose a host family nearby. Why don't you ask your DS, any of his classmates' parents would like to take this job?  Maybe it works.

We bought air tickets from Emirates.  Was told by travel agent, Qatar is not quite safe.  I mean, security.
My husband and I bought return tickets for HK$10,800.  And my kids bought one way, from HK to London for 5,750.
We would like to bring them for an experience of transit flight first.  Let them have some experience before them could handle by themselves next time. Did you buy?
