I really don't know why people always like to rank these universities, which are all highly comparable. The rankings in the UK are useless as they change every year. Basically, UK has four types of universities. The top should be Oxford, Cambridge, and London (only LSE, Imperial, King's, LBS, and UCL). Then, a batch of second tier universities, from Manchester up to Keele, which are all universities built in 60's or before.A batch of third tier universities, from Coventry to East London, which are all polytechnic before 90's. Finally, a batch of colleges and institutes that can offer first degree programs.
This is very similar to Hong Kong, where HKU, CUHK, and UST are the best, followed by PolyU, CityU and Baptist, where LU and HKIED are the third tier. Other universities and colleges, such as OU, ShueYan, are private-based and should be the lowest rank.
Such overall ranking will not change in the next 20 more years. However, even if you study at the third tier universities, such as Coventry or East London, you can still be accepted by top universities, even Cambridge and Oxford, to study your master's degree if you get a very good result in your first degree and have "money". So, I think you should focus on other things, such as whether the university has the program you like, whether they have good and safe environment and hostels, whether you have friends studying there, etc. You will spend one or more years there. The most important is that you like to live there.
