Based on my observation, school will not group candidates for 1st round. It has been divided into batches by surname in alphabetical order.
They don't usually call again for more interviews after December. As the demand for spots are much greater than supply. Attractive candidates will be offered a spot straight away (which they usually have a week or so to accept the offer with deposit) and then there will be a bunch (of marginal cases), they will get successful waiting pool. The rest will get rejections (esp for candidates that didn't proceed to 2nd round).
If anyone decide not to accept the offer, they will pick candidates from the successful waiting pool.
That's just how it went in previous year, but not sure whether things have changed this year.
