報讀牛津劍橋（Joyce Wu）

每年香港都有過千位學生會報讀牛津或劍橋大學。通過英國聯招，學生可以報讀兩所學府的其中一所(不能兩所同時報讀)。那麼，兩所大學的申請過程有甚麼差別呢？

兩所大學都是行學院收生制度，意思是學生遞申請表後，申請表會發到大學裡的某學院，然後學院有收生決定的能力。

學生報劍橋時，可以選定想報的一間學院，或做一份open application(即讓大學隨機把學生的申請分發到某一間學院)。該學院會決定學生有沒有面試機會。面試後，有三個可能的結果：取錄，申請失敗或pooled。

Pooled是指學生的能力是可以的，但報讀的學院已沒有該科的學位，於是把申請放到pool裡，讓其他學院選擇學生。劍橋在香港是有面試的。香港就讀的學生可不必飛去英國面試。

至於報讀牛津，大部分的學生都要考額外的考試，如humanities類的科目要考TSA，物理或工程類科目要考PAT等。學生報讀牛津，需要選擇報讀一個學院。學生也可以選報open application。

不過，牛津跟劍橋不同的是，學生申請會被同時分派到第二個學院(第二個學院由牛津決定)。如果學生有面試機會的話，兩個學院都會面試。若兩個學院都想收學生，它們會自己協調。Pool在牛津也是有的，但劍橋會有較多學生從pool裡獲得offer。牛津在香港沒有面試，所有學生必須飛到英國面試。

請問在英國聯招時如5個選擇都沒有被考慮,那可再報嗎?再報時可重複之苧曾報過的學院嗎?

There are irregularities in the last paragraph on Oxford pooling:

"牛津在香港沒有面試，所有學生必須飛到英國面試。"
Obviously, they still have a choice to do the interview via video conference.

"學生申請會被同時分派到第二個學院(第二個學院由牛津決定)。如果學生有面試機會的話，兩個學院都會面試。"
Some candidates, successful or not, only have interviews at one college.  Except for re-allocation before the interview, the second college will pick up "pooled" candidates for further interviews after their first college has interviewed them.  Nevertheless, the whole process differs across the colleges and subjects.

"若兩個學院都想收學生，它們會自己協調。"
The first college should have the privilege of picking the candidate first.  The pooling reason may be for levelling purposes so colleges can see if they agree on the scores given for interview.
