係uk報大學依家係咪一定要俾埋gcse成績?如果女女係直接去讀alevel呢?

唔一定，要睇個別大學 / 個別學系嘅要求。一般來說，英國大學都接受香港學校校內成積，唔一定要有GCSE。大部份只要求報考學生有3-4科AL (要留心部份大學唔睇某D科目，例如General Studies、Performing Arts，詳情必須參閱各大學的收生要求)，但有很多人說 (未經證實，亦難以證實) 有一小部份名牌大學，例如牛津，如果無GCSE成績好難有得面試。

"如果無GCSE成績好難有得面試" is not the case for Oxford as other equivalent international qualifications will also be considered, alongside with written test result, predicted grade, personal statement, etc.  However, it is true that Oxford puts more emphasis on GCSE as compared with AS level results.

其實大學一般都會睇GCSE results作一個baseline. Oxbridge 果d會睇，你GCSE 無番咁上下，學校一般會叫你唔好報Oxbridge.

Not true.

If you have good a-level predicted grades, a strong reference from school plus good written work and PS, you will gain the interview invitation and even an offer from Oxbridge and other top RG unis.

GCSE results are not necessary if you don't have those. HK school reports are also NOT necessary.

Universities used to rely on AS grades to make conditional offers.  With the reform of A Level, do you think that they will rely more on GCSE results?

Here is Oxford's response to the A-level reforms:

In a word, for those international students who have no GCSE results, situation remains the same. What they can do is to work hard in sixth forms, get good school reports, have strong references and predicted grades from their UK schools. All help. UK unis already used to accept overseas students who do not have GCSE qualifications.

No problem la. I just looked into the Oxford link that the other JM shared, it mentioned that GCSE A-A* are required, did not say how many and the proportion though. But I think B in GCSE is considered inadequate

For Oxbridge, Cambridge puts more emphasis on AS level rather than GCSE results as compared with Oxford.  However, we need to wait and see the effects of the recent A level reform.

If subject X was taken in 2014 with grade A and was retaken with grade A* together with other subjects in 2015, I doubt the universities will know given that you apply only with your 2015 results. However, if subject X was taken in 2014 with grade A together with other subjects and was singularly retaken with Grade A* in 2015, the universities will know that you took subject X in a different year.  Some competitive universities prefer all subjects are taken in one go to assess whether the applicant can handle such workload at the same time.
