Re: 讀寫困難 有無講座?有無多d資料?
newparco﹕
Where does your nephew live? In some states in the US, dyslexia is not classified as "LEARNING DISABILITY," which means that the school would have no obligation to offer any special help. I know that California is one of them.... :(
Try this website and see if your sis can get a specialist at her region:
http://www.dyslexia-teacher.com/resources1.html
Undeniably, dyslexics in the US are much happier than those in HK because of the following reasons:
1) Even in regular programs, they have less writing and spelling to do.
2) The teahers try NOT to fail any students in their primary years at all.
3) Students are not required to be bilingual, so they only need to learn English.
4) Teachers are NOT supposed to criticize the students' handwriting, regardless of how messy it is...
However, it's also because of the reasons above that many teachers do not see dyslexia as a problem, and it's often because of this attitude that many children do not receive early help.
What I suggest you do is to get a letter from a GOOD educational psychologist in HK (preferably those who can write a comprehensive report in English) and get it to your nephew's family doctor as well as school teacher. They may then refer you to another local (US) specialist and your nephew might get some proper treatment afterwards.
