小女今年在美國讀grade 11,學校係讀AP課程，佢在香港時讀IB,對AP課程不認識，現在趁暑假想補習，應該補AP定SAT? 兩者有什麼分別？

SAT是大學入學試，類似香港DSE，同類考試還有ACT，一般四年大學都要求大學第一年申請人提交SAT/ACT成績。AP課程是讓程度較高的學生，可以在高中修讀程度與大學一年級相約的學科，由於程度較深，通常可獲較高weighted GPA，部分大學亦會給予考獲AP試學生該科目的大學學分(視乎每間大學credit exemption policy)。美國大學收生考慮因素很多，包括大學入學試，GPA，class ranking，課外活動，推薦信，volunteer hours及personal statement等等。你女兒要補習甚麼，視乎你希望improve她的SAT成績，還是想她修讀較深課程，以提高weighted GPA及有機會exempt college credit.

There are a lot of misunderstanding and incorrect information of SAT, AP here.
AP is similar to IB, AL. These are exams based on the curriculum taught at school. AP is much more flexible than IB or AL because you can take AP exams early, as long as you think you are ready. For IB and AL, most students sit for exam on the same year at the same time. Students sit for as many (as few) AP exams they like. Most schools have AP classes to prepare students for AP exams. The best thing is to talk to the school counsellor.
SAT is an aptitude test similar to IELTS or TOEFL (IELTS and TOEFL only test your english though). Again, you can write SAT when you are ready.
If you only have a short holiday, and want tutoring, get some classes for SAT.

係，之前睇過話最好由high school grade9開始，大學要睇過去4年成績，而且同學之間較易建立友誼，但我地已錯過時機，諗不如考完IGCSE才走，再過去讀grade 11, 所以現在想知多些咁樣可唔可行？

英文及數學 類似aptitude test，大部分大學都要睇，宜11年級內考，可以考多過一次。也有人選考ACT不考SAT

AP
比校內標準課程要深D的學科考試，不一定要交，但多數人都通常考幾科，12年級考

因為11及12年功課繁忙，建議暑假補SAT 及11年級內考咗先！

我補充一下我兒情況.  他是美籍, 當年跟著父母回流香港升讀grade 9, 讀IS, 高中讀IBDP, 大學又回到美國去.  我兒是讀書成績比較優秀的一群, 當年他IB以外, 還另外自修考了SAT I, 三門SAT II,  三門AP.  不單他是這樣, 他那些有心赴美升學目標又是top uni的同學們, 都是如此.   坦白說, 我一直覺得AP比IB容易, 因為眼見兒子只在網上買了AP參考題略為做過, 就在grade 11的五月考了三門AP, 全部拿5分. 所以我個人建議, AP不難, 反正令千金高中所學的就是AP課程, 真要補習, 就補SAT(或ACT), 如果有心想入較佳的大學, 就連SAT II也要考.

兩樣都補冇衝突。好大學Sat起碼要2300。

Based on OLD information when I was a kid....
There was no penalty, but all attempts will be shown on your report.  That means the school will know that you have taken the test 10 times if that's what u did and may draw a negative impression on that.
