It's very interesting reading articles in this forum. At one point, I'm just thinking out loud about this.... Given the number of International schools (since this forum is about Int'l school) and to an extend, local schools, what will be the distribution of kids to Int'l vs Local schools in any given year.

So, I googled and found what I think is somewhat reliable data from Wikipedia.
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Hong_Kong

The statistics goes only as far as 2011 and mind you, it's already 95,500 newborn that year. 2012 is the year of the Dragon...

I am just wondering if anyone here has done an analysis on the number of International schools, the number of places available in its reception/foundation/entry year, and paint a picture of how it looks like? Let's just assume the number of kids from expats (not born here) in HK to be a certain percentage of the yearly number. Even better if one has the big picture including everyone favorite local schools (top local schools).

Sounds like an interview question for fresh graduate training programs but I'm just really curious if anyone has this worked out.

What the above demographic doesn't tell you is, around one third of those newborns are the so called "double not" children (i.e. both parents are not Hongkong residents), they are an unpredictable group because very little is known about their family backgrounds and preferences, they are literally children given birth by tourists.
