In real International Schools, students will speak English all the time, even talking on phones with friends at home... my kids will speak in Cantonese with parents and grand parents, but speak in English always with friends.

Learning Chinese needs a lot of effort from parents.  Feeling inferior?  Maybe it applies for those studying in IS with more wealthy families, particularly on HK Island side.

I don't get it.  What else would one expect in a school with English as the primary, if not sole, language of instruction?  Of course the children should use English and perceive that as their preferred language.
