其實你可以問下學校.  以前我考慮呢間時都有問過, 不過係幾年前嘅事.  多數都去IS, 有人入過本地學校, 都追得上, 係未必適應主流學校文化姐.

Anyhow the Montessori method is best used in early childhood up to mid primary kids, so even if the school considers opening up a high school section it may not be suitable or popular.

From what I heard IMS graduates get into pretty good IS. My child is going to a Montessori school right now (K1 equivalent) and I plan to keep him there until he gets into a decent thorough train IS.

Also the Montessori method is quite different from mainstream schools. I recommend that interested parents read up on Dr. Montessori's work and agrees with her methods before consider enrolling your child into a Montessori school. Not all parents/children are suitable for the Montessori method, as it requires follow through at home as well.
To prevent my child to go too extreme I am also enrolling him in some mainstream classes so that he can also adapt to the more popular methods of learning at the same time.

wow, that's good news.  but montessori secondary is not easy to run. very different from primary.  The higher the year, the more dependent on the teacher.  In addition, there are fewer Montessori primary teachers around and there are even less secondary teachers.  Finding teachers will be tough.  A Montessori teacher, esp secondary, needs to be EXTREMELY innovative, motivated and resourceful.

I got a friend who studied in IMS since K1 and now she is going to gr.2 in this school year. Her mami told me her daughter couldn't cope with others, always like to work on her own. Although she is becoming very independent but her mami finds out she turns out to be very extreme like not listening to others instructions, seems couldn't accept others advices or comments. Therefore her mami applied another school which luckily she got accepted. So NOT every children fits in , parents should think deeply what they want their children be.

hopewish, this is precisely the reason why I transferred my son, who was well-suited to the Montessori system, to start Year 1 else where.  He fitted beautifully in the system.  He was spending up to 2 hours at a time tracing, coloring and labelling the world map puzzle on his own in class - without the teacher's prompt before he reached 4 1/2.  At the same time, he was on stamp game learning multiplication.  If I let him stay a few months longer, he will move on to division already. Although he liked playing with other children, he was VERY shy.  I was afraid that his shyness would push him further inwards within himself by pursuing satisfaction through academic work.  So we started him on Year 1 by 4y8m, and the rest is history.

Currently, my fd's daughter got accepted in HKIS. Before she moved out from IMS, she went to small world christian school. Heard that once you get into IMS is not easy to transfer out to other IS as montessori is quite different from ordinary class format so not highly recommended to transfer your kid once you decided to stay in IMS!

回覆 hopewish 的帖子

IMS doesn't offer secondary education. Where does IMS graduates move to then? Do you mean IMS students not likely to transfer to IS directly?
