Any current parents with more insider knowledge can comment / discuss?

I've read all relevant materials myself (even the confidential letter was circulated amongst parents), and all parents are quite concerned. The school is promptly addressing the situation (before the SCMP article was revealed), and have scheduled parents' Q&A sessions early next week. Parents will voice out concerns, find out the bigger picture, and hopefully have the Board of Governance reformed for the optimum running of the school.

Yeah a few friends who are current parents will be going to the meetings, silver lining is that this might be a good time to reform if indeed these problems have been brewing for some years.  We never did notice the statue though in our numerous visits :)

I have visited Canadian international school some time ago and find it strange that the foyer displays certain board member portraits. They look too old to be former students of this relatively young school. If they are not academically related to the school, why are they there? Very odd indeed.

It would be good news if this big ego Chairman of the Board is resigning because of what I read elsewhere (reproduced below):

My kid has been at Canadian now for 4 years and she loves the school. I also really enjoy my relationship with her teachers and administrators. Reading this article is no surprise to me, I knew something was rotten with the Board, one only needs to enter the foyer to sense this: Kennedy Liu insists on having his portrait prominently displayed in the foyer - make of that what you will. As a parent I recently received a copy of the letter that CISPA sent and have see the resignation letters of the board and founding members. It is clear to me that no man or woman with any self-respect of genuine integrity could stomach working in the current Board climate. If these old business men (look at the board pictures on the school's website) really care more about the kids than their own self-importance, then they would accede to the demands and step down. The fact that they have not brings them shame and sets a poor example for the students they claim to support.

Yes, Kennedy Liu has resigned and our hope is that the school is progressing towards reforming the outdated structure for the Board of Governors.

Through this 'movement' I truly experienced the strengths and abilities of the parents in CDNIS. They were intelligent, saw through facades in seconds, very articulate in voicing their opinion & suggestions, and care deeply about the school. Kennedy could not be easily overthrown without this group of lovely (and highly powerful) parents.

Within days the parents association has rallied a teachers' appreciation day for early next week to lift the morales of the teachers, as many were deeply wounded by previous incidents caused by the decisions of the (glad to say) FORMER Chairman. The works are not done yet but it is heading in the right direction.

That's good news. I must say that I was put off by the prominent distasteful display of names of former Chairmen of Board of Governors in the school lobby. I happen to come across some of these people professionally. I know it is unfair to the teachers there but I'm afraid I do not want to associate my kids' education with them. Perhaps the recent event and future development will help to change my view!
