My child was in Jing Jing for nursery, they run UK curriculum, with very small class ratio. There are school buses to where we are at from the 3 schools you mentioned

Many thanks! May I know you child enjoy the school or not? I see the teachers are nice and caring but wanna know more as there are not much parents here in BK...

I was thinking about the primary if I take JJI for nursery ... Could you tell me your target ? From where we live , only Harrow nearby but it is not my cup of tea... I like JIS / Beacon Hill but it seems quite far away for a 5 year-old baby ....

I like the curriculum, and the nursery class teacher's philosophy on early childhood education during the time my child was there. I don't really have any negative comment about JJ, well except for the lack of outdoor area, and when her class had a substitute teacher.
In all, My child had a very good year there.

I submitted application for JIS not long after my child started JJ, many of them as you are aware, move on to JIS for primary. We were offered a place in reception after the interview late last year, which we declined as my child will continue with her current kindie; further away but higher class ratio and suits her better.

JIS school bus takes approximately 30min to Gold Coast, same goes for beacon hill, fairly reasonable in my opinion. We will go for the latter.

How old is your child? Have you submitted your application to JJ? They do have a very long waiting list.

Thanks a lot for your reply again. Your child is very smart to have both offers from JIS n Beacon Hill ESF ! :) I believe both are caring school.

I do agree that JJI always have a long waiting list. And at least half of the students are non- Chinese background. It is not easy for cantonese speaking family to get an offer as they only have 3 classes nursery with the ratio 1:8. My girl is very lucky to get an nursery offer for coming school term.

May I know how often do they had substitute teacher last year? And when should I apply for JIS n Beacon Hill ESF? I know JJI invited principle of JIS to their school for a talk on last Sep... Does it mean we have to do the application for JIS reception right after the talk by the end of this year ? Why most of you choose JIS and Beacon Hill at the end ... Does JJI 's curriculum suits those school well?

Sorry for many questions as I cannot find much information. Thanks again for your time.

Why most of you choose JIS and Beacon Hill at the end ...

One cannot choose and apply specifically to Beacon Hill School, instead one applies to ESF and they will allot the application to one of their schools depending on which catchment area the residential address falls into. If many children from JJI end up in Beacon Hill, it simply means most of them live in Beacon Hill's catchment area.

Thanks Fatty Daddy for your information. So, it means the resident address JJI students live falls into the catchment area of Beacon Hill ESF. And I 've to apply for their Year 1 Central application when my girl is starting JJI K2 on Sep of the year.

Thanks a lot for your reply again. Your child is very smart to have both offers from JIS n Beacon Hi ...
No problem at all, we have only a year of experience there, happy to share if that helps.

Many children attending JJI live around the neighbourhood, and this area is under the catchment zone of bhs. My child has no offer from this school, she is moving onto K2 after summer.
Bennyeva, Your words are very kind, but I am not a believer of tagging smartness with school offers. No intention of coming across as offensive, I personally do not like the thought of young children getting labeled or categorised.

The substitute was coverage during the maternity leave of the nursery teacher. The effect of the substitution teacher was played down very well by the kindergarten, not a cause for concern in general for most nursery children. Enjoy the growth and development of your daughter, that is so precious and gone in a flash.

JIS accepts application all year round, not sure if that has changed, and they will call for interviews a year before your child is due for the reception intake.
Again, I cannot speak for all who chose to continue in JIS, I do think that we in our area (I assume we are!) do not have many options which are within fairly reasonable or acceptable traveling time. Perhaps that explains the JIS BHS LA trend..

Do you think you need a spare JJI school bag/cardigan? We have them still.

Thanks for your sharing, Taicce. I appreciate so much not only your valuable comments on JJI, JIS & BHS but also your sharing on your thoughts and believes.

Let me also share with you our believes.   We simply want a play-based and caring school which has a reasonable commute time. Good English will definitely be an advantage for her oversea studying in future. But most importantly ...  We want our girl enjoy a happy schooling rather than rushing all her time on homework (like most of the LS) . That's the reason we consider JJI for nursery.

I agree with you. We , living in the gold coast area , does have not much options for primary ...  I think I have to do more research on these 3 schools....

And, thanks for your open heart to offer the spare JJI school bag/cardigan. : ) I believe I will get one for our daughter myself as this will be her first school bag . Much appreciate!

I hope your girl will enjoy her school and have a happy childhood also : )

The above comment are very valuable. I can't find much info from BK, such comment really helps!

I am thinking to send my son for Jing Jing n class. May I know more about the experience in JJI? do the children enjoy the class?
If I want to send him to local primary, is it still good to have him in JJI for n?

Thanks for your opinion!!

JJI is a very small kindergarten tucked away in TM, naturally there isn't a lot discussion on it. My child was there for N, and I believe it was a good environment for her to gain exposure to early school-life at her own pace, inquiry-based, and was not rigid. Personally I think the impact on switching will not be significant but again, I do not have this experience. I have very little understanding on how the local curriculum is, perhaps 2 considerations from what I observed, and you probably have thought about, is securing a K1 place in your ideal local kindergarten particularly if they have N classes moving automatically up, and the switch to intense academically focused kindergarten curriculum.
