I just learned that IMS sent out the first batch of offers recently. However, my daughter is currently in the wait pool. What are the chances to get an offer in the end? On the other hand, we are planning to apply for Woodland as the backup. Can someone share insights about the two schools? Thanks!

I know friends who were in their waiting pool and must sadly say, do not keep your hopes high... IMS has the habit of keeping a large waiting pool, and many ends up being disappointed. However, if you are keen on IMS, do apply again next year. The older the child, i find that the easier it is to get in (as long as you keep the child in a Montessori environment in between).

Woodland Montessori is a good option if you are aiming for through-train IS in the future, but i guess you must supplement Mandarin if Chinese is one of the reason you choose IMS as your first choice. Oaktree Montessori (near Happy Valley) is a great little Mandarin centre good for parents who insists on using the Montessori method to teach Chinese. The draw back is that they do have lots of expat kids, so do try to schedule your child in a class with more Chinese kids in order to prevent the non-Chinese speakers from dragging the Chinese speakers down.

Also consider DMS (Discovery Montessori School) located in Sheung Wan & Discovery Bay. It is the other Montessori school in HK that I'd highly highly recommend.

Dear Jola
Thank you for your helpful reply. We just got an offer from IMS yesterday, so we are going to take it. I guess the chance of getting an offer is still quite high if you are in a wait pool.
