Your interest and passion should be your first consideration! If you don’t like the subject, it will be challenging to get through the 3-4 years and that would directly impact your performance and career choice.

Actuarial is a more specialized subject, and may land you a job more easily (esp in Hong Kong) than engineering.
Having said that, the opportunity for international/ global exposure with a UCL degree  is priceless. I did my degree in UK too and would never regret making that decision. Also a degree is more than technical training, but a training for your leadership and critical thinking. Lots of engineers end up with jobs in other fields such as banking, consultants etc.

得罪講句, UCL engine最出名就係出名廢。參考翻今年UCL畢業既香港人嚟講，大學個名對於將來就業既優勢唔算大。港大精算其實唔錯，但係香港而家咁亂都係一個負面因素，但係好處可能係可以讀多一年，避免經濟差嗰段時間畢業，對CV會比較著數。所以睇個人取向

除了興趣，也要看看本身能力。

精算要求學生數學能力非常高，要成功考取精算師也不容易，需要心理準備苦幹。當然，到最後會有好回報。

為什麼? UCL engine在Times的ranking也不差。之前去咗Poly個engineering day, 有個UCL畢業的女仔入咗Towngas做，我和她傾過計，覺得印象不錯。

Ranking 係唔差，但係喺英國報engineering既朋友，同埋唔少做緊工程既行內人都覺得佢地engine廢廢地。咁出嚟唔一定個個都冇料既。見過HKU FBE普通科既人都入到GS做IBD，LSE/UCL畢業變失業既case都有，就業前景都好睇經濟環境，個人心態同埋事前預備既。

請問imperial civil 在工程界人的評價如何呢？會不會都是廢廢地呢？因為我們唔係好識，都是靠個ranking揀校，真心請教，謝謝。
