ISF preschool

Currently in ISF preschool Year 1, love everything that we see and our child also likes it there. Great teachers, great family network and the ISF Academy teachers/facilities are superb. We are Chinese background and it feels like this is where we really fit in, given the focus on Chinese culture, language and the friendship we can build here with families from common background versus international schools where people come and go.

No reason to believe that she won't be able to graduate to Foundation (we're told if there are issues teachers will tell you by now) however this is not 100% guaranteed. Worth staying in ISF preschool or take offers from other through-train schools such as SIS and CIS?

At the recent parent meeting all kids got detailed feedback on whether they are on track so by now parents have a good sense of whether they can graduate to Foundation Year. Those with problematic cases have already been advised.

We're comfortable with graduating to Foundation and this is still our favourite school with the strongest Chinese environment, not just language but also culture and classmates will be more stable not turning over all the time. People will all have different views, but we've decided to give up other offers and release them. No point in keeping offers and continuously think over and over again, too stressful.

Good for you! But what are the "problematic cases" ? Is it usually due to inadequate Chinese or mandarin level"?

Heard its generally kids who dislike chinese and refuse to speak it, answering in english even when its a chinese conversation. Or those with concentration issues. Otherwise most kids will be fine

Congrats, key is to have a stance and go through with what you believe.  No school is perfect but it's up to the parents to balance out the child's exposure.  May I ask, what are other offers you are giving up?

May I ask one question, which pre-nursery has the biggest advantage in going to ISF? My girl has got offer from KCS and wonder if this is a good stepping stone.

In the past ISF like rightmind, Vic and KCS students because of the bilingual environment. But the interview is actually conducted in either English or mandarin ( you can pick by yourself).
