請問九龍瑭宣道Ｄ英文深唔深？

我女兒在一丙班讀書，因為幼稚園的英文教得太淺，現在女兒有點害怕，點算好？１Ｃ英文老師好不好？惡不惡呢？
如果學習有困難，可否找老師傾下呢？請問點算好？

他們歷年升英中的比例都很高, 今年是98.3%,全港居冠, 應該不用太擔心吧。

Hi jadetang,

You are the 3rd 1C class parent that I met in this forum. Nice to meet you first. Anyway, my daughter told me that the class teacher - Ms. Lo is their English teacher this year. She is a nice and experienced teacher in the school. Actually, I don't think that their English syllabus is very hard as they are using activity-approach to teach English. Every teaching cycle should have a theme and topic to cover and the children will be provided worksheets during the class. Since my girl is the ex-student of St. Catherine and maybe she likes this teaching method as APS is using the same as St. Catherine.
Anyway, if you think your daughter has difficulty in learning English in APS, I also suggest you to call Ms. Lo to discuss on this issue.

Thank you for your advice, 晞晴 Ma Ma. Today I find my daugther feel better than yesterday. May be Comp. is less difficult  than gram. to  her. I decide to observe for a time before calling Miss Lo. May be my daugther is not familiar with her teaching method. It takes time for her to deal with it.
Also , what means by activity-approach? In the past, my daughter can do the homework by her own and I do not have any idea about what teaching method her kindergardon use in the past.
Now I really want to let her be without helping her too much, am I right?

Hi jadetang,

Glad to hear that your daughter can handle the English class better today. Actually, when I received the book list from APS, I just wonder why they don't have any English textbook for P1 students. Moreover, I also learnt from my colleague that APS even did not prepare any English teaching scope and schedule for parent last year. The parent did express their concern on the arrangement and request for regular update on what has been taught in school every week. Otherwise, they are afraid it is difficult to assist the kids to prepare the test and even examination. This year, we are lucky enough to get the schedule and theme for every teaching cycle and can base on it to do revision at home. I think we all know that what is mean by Traditional approach and activity-approach is a bit opposite to this. Teacher may use various methods, such as: story-telling, conversation, role-play...etc to help the kids to learn the vocabularies, sentences that are related to the designated topics. Anyway, I agree we can simply observe and see if the kids can custom and manage what has been learnt from school and provide assistance when needed. Also, we can consult and discuss with the class teacher when we find our children are showing frustrate for their school life.
