Re: 現存band1官津小學的隱憂
To Ambrose :
I agree with u that it's the govt.'s conspiracy to press those govt./subsidiary school to convert to DSS.
But I not quite understand how these schools can maintain their past performance even they turn to 'one-dragon' schools. Those primary schools still face the problems of various quality of students under the existing 'lucky draw' P.1 admission system, and even worser, the 'one-dragon' secondary schools will be suffered as they have to accept those students having poor academic results from his 'one-dragon' primary school. Like the article 'Re: 培正小學Vs英華小學' forecast, will the existing band 1 'one-dragon' secondary school be downgraded inevitably??
Besides, how can they force out the poor standard students and accept "high" standard students from P.2 to P.6??? I'm not quite sure if those primary schools can expel those students of poor performance (academic result) if the proportion is high, say 10%, under the existing 9-yrs free education system. (Let's take normal distribution of 80% of average standard, 10% for outstanding & 10% for poor) On the other hand, the remaining 10% outstanding student is insufficient to maintain the current band 1 academic standard.
I totally agree with u that traditional famous school not only train the students in academic but also provide a good environment for them to study. However, now these traditional famous govt./subsidiary primary schools are unable to select their students, or unable to reject some potential 'problematic' students. Will their good studying environment become worse? That's my concern.
