I don't think so.
I think you should attach rewards and certificate in application form. They are important documents.

what kind of certificates are usually attached ? is certificate of attendance of some courses like drawing, ballet, piano , swimming etc , okay ?

by the way, how come a 5 year old kid has reward ?

You should attach the certificate of some courses such as phonics, swimming ( to prove child can swim 25m or 50m freestyle ) , ? grade piano and any rewards in your kindergarten.

Actually, I will recommand my friend's child to participate some courses which provide certificate after completion.

I understand that it will be very difficult to convince parents who will applied P1 for their kid that a profile is useless.  In particular, if you wanted to apply for those most famous primary schools.

The only exception is that your kid is a genius who have won some famous international music or whatever competitions.  Then you should mention this.

Otherwise, the only purpose of preparing a profile is  to make you feel comfortable that you, as parents have tried your best to help your kid for P1.

This is my experience and observation.

I have the experience in trying most of those famous primary schools, we treat it as a game for my kid to play and gives no pressure to my kid and ourselves.  In fact, you will find familiar faces all the time, the same group of parents will apply almost the same group of famous schools at the same time!!!   

From my observation, Kid's interview performance is the key to success, no matter how good is your profile, it does not really help much.  

Teachers or principle may "flip" through your beautiful profile, but some even don't look at it at all.  They really don't have the time "really" read it, needless to say, they will not read it before interviewing your kid.  In fact, it is so easy to determine whether a kid is smart or not by asking them IQ or even simply questions (In either Chinese or English).

If you still feel uncomfortable for not having a  profile.  Prepare a profile no longer than 2 pages, only include critical information not covered in the application form.

I also agree that the schools would not have time to go through all the profiles attached .

can you imagine the extra workload involved to go through several hundreds of profiles !

moreover, most of the profiles look more or less the same.

Give you an example of a real interview question of a famous school.

A picture showing a tree, a kite is hanging at the top of the tree.  There are three animals, a bird, a monkey and a chicken.  The Principal ask, which animal could bring the kite down?

Some kids just simply answer "Monkey" and stop, but a smart kid could elaborate and even can use his imagination to give a different answer.  (Say bird or even chicken)

If you are the Principal, will you pick a smart kid in front of you or pick a kid who can only answer you "Monkey" but provided with a nice profile saying that he is studying 3 languages, 2 musical instruments etc.

it's obvious that which kids the principal would choose !

my view is that unless our kids have very special skills that is worthwhile to mention or else every profile would look the same to the principal , very boring at all !
