Anyone had try to send 自薦信to St Paul's Convent ?

I just send 自薦信 for my daughter last week with a profile but already received their reject letter stating they have no vacancy. Not even a chance for interview is offered. Is it really no vacancy or just reserve the seats for their connected parties only ? I want to know the experience of other parents. Thanks.

I think nobody can answer your question, even the teacher who's working there. It's not a problem, you may try many top school in HK, the result may be the same.

I don't think so. All the schools we had applied have interview. It is only SPC which is so 高竇 ( sorry for using this word but it really gives me this feeling). My daughter already got 3 offers. But I think in many parents' mind, St Paul's convent is really a dream school for their girls. That's why I would like to have a try.

What's problem?  Why you think St. Paul Convent will consider to give an interview chance to your kid?  What special skill or excellent school result your kid's got?  If any application you filed & the school must entertain you, so I also go ahead to try, no harm.

I just want to tell you, you are not required to concern why they rejected your application, nobody knows even the teacher working in St. Paul Convent.

SPC小學部並沒有公開招生，但每年均會收到大量自薦申請書。由於學位實在很少，我相信他們不會接見所有申請人，而會先在申請書中篩選他們認為合適的人選才安排接見。所以有人會有面試機會，有人則沒有。

True!  佢地小學部既學位一定會比曬佢地幼稚園既畢業生先.  If there are any seats available, piority will be given to their K3 students who are on waiting list (yes, there are still K3 girls on waiting list!).  This is very logical that they don't have vacancy for outsiders now.  I think the letter you received just reflect the fact and it doesn't show that they are 高竇 at all.  In fact, this is very reasonable and understandable.  If they don't have vacancy at this moment, why do they still waste time and efforts to interview the applicant?

If you're still interested in this school, you should continue to send them letters to show your sincerity.  The school may have vacancies after the central allocation results are released in June as some K3 students may give up their spaces at that time.

My wife told me that yesterday she heard one parent said his daughter just got a SPC P1 place for next year. That little girl is studying in LLC K3 now. So this is not impossible, but just very very difficult.

I agree that those who are still interested should keep "knocking the door" since some K3 students will surely give up their places after they are admitted to some even better (from their point of view) primary schools.

You need to understand one fact- SPC is a private  school that does not have open application.  They only accept the students from their kinders.  So, the vacancy is available only when their kinders students surrender their application.  May be they accept a couple of more, but it is very very few.  The friend of my friend got a plce this Sept.  I don't know how she "knock" their door.

So. for their kinder student, I think most of them will hold their places till last moment.  I don't know when is the last moment, as I didn't got through so far.  I think those students who got acceptance from other school will inform SPC that they will surrender their registration by that time.  So, it should be the time to KEEP knocking the door.  However, I would suggest you to keep sending your application or letter to them before that time, so that they remember you.  Maybe once a month or once in 2 months.   What I am trying to say is - you should keep in touch with them from now on so that they know you.  When the central allocation is announced, contact them more often.

HOWEVER, I heard a rumor that they would like to cut down the class size, so they will cut number of outsiders.  It is a rumor that I have heard for a few years, so we never know.  If you are earger to send your daughter to this chool, just keep trying.
