各位BK家長:

小兒比較內向, 老師叫我幫佢揀選活動教學既學校, 而佢鍾意同女同學玩, 佢曾經同Daddy講鍾意返男女校!

培道今天同明天交留位費, 我都唔知應否去交? 而聖約瑟已經交左留位費, 去interview祇有三十多人, 是否這校突學質數差左, 所以少左人去報考? 學校比較殘破, 老師比較年輕! 印象最好是九龍塘學校(小學部), 除了環境同地區好之好, 老師好Nice, 但是學貴好貴!

除了以上三間學校之外, 九龍塘宣道一月才知道結果, SFA & DBS都落選了!

九龍塘學校 is the best among the 3, but I heard that the standard of this school is quite high, quite difficult, a lot of work.  Same for SFA, DBS and 九龍塘宣道.

If you want to choose a 活動教學既學校, can go to Creative Primary School, students are very happy studying there, few homework, co-ed school, but school fee is very high, $5000 per month.

-  點解你會咁講 ？唔係呀。去interview一定唔止30+人。
我反而覺得間學校，無乜宣傳自己，唔係咁多家長留意到。

不論校方怎樣說，培道都好傳統的，並非真係活動教學，起碼並不等同啟思那套。

我個仔於星期二8:45am interview，當時都好多小朋友，同一個session有4檯 x 9 to 10 小朋友。
相比很多"名"小學，有1000-1500人報名，確較少人，但數目亦不算少。
我覺得個問題出在佢升中一校網的機會，比教學質素方面大。
我雖然替個仔在這間及另一間留位，但覺得這間好像比較好少許。一切等全部學校放榜後才作final decision。
另外已決定放棄培道個位。

其實kln tong 宣道，和kln tong 學校(小學) 的學費相若，咁你又會考慮kln tong宣道 ？

我有個同事既仔讀你地所講既St.Joseph.成績都OK架,但因為佢地既派位制度,唔係收好多小六生,所以最後仲派左去HK Side既一間ma ma tei school.所以你地都要好好三思呀.讀完六年後都唔知去左邊.而且個net都係ma ma tei.就算入到自己中學,都唔係十分top woo!

仔仔去interview o個日衹有兩組人, 每組有十多人等候interview!
好似九龍塘宣道派位好過九龍塘學校(小學部)! 我同事都話首選九龍塘宣道, 其次是聖約瑟, 九龍塘學校(小學部)第三! 我為仔仔報考私校衹是留作後備, 如果仔仔統一派位唔理想才讓他去讀!

若果英文個底打得好, 將來去考其他中學應該有幫助, 仔仔   o個間幼稚園往年都有小朋友派去聖約瑟小學! 不過聖約瑟英文中學是否會轉中文中學?

聖若瑟已經俾MR TUNG轉為中文中學拉.  不過我交form時老師話中學會轉番做英文中學.  有d科目已經用英文.  但我覺得校舍比較細和暗.  所以我暫時會揀KTS.  KTS 18DEC有開放日, 到時可以睇清楚.

培道我已經放棄左! 其實當初報考培道是老公個客o個仔以前係培道讀小學, 之後派到英華, 所以先念住幫佢考! 其實我無想過佢考到KTS同聖約瑟(因為老公細個時考過聖約瑟, 佢話好難考), 不過我想兩間都會交留位費先, 若果統一派位派唔到心儀既小學, 到時再念揀邊間(不過我怕到時仲煩)!

I also applied for 聖約瑟小學 when I was a kid. At that time, it was a top primary school. However, we were no longer young. It is risky of using outdated information or impression for selection. As you are choosing between KTS and 聖約瑟小學, I would like to share some information of 聖約瑟 secondary school which was published in the MingPao guide of secondary schools:

Overall HKCEE passing rate: 74%
Chinese passing rate: 79%
English passing rate: 65%
Average number of distinction per student: 0.11
尖子 number: 0

Please check its English passing rate. One out of three fails in English HKCEE.

You may check this figure with that of 培道 Middle School whose passing rate in English is 98.3% for syb. B. and 96.2% for syb. A. The overall passing rate is 89.3%.

If you check that with figures of secondary schools for KTS graduates, e.g. 喇沙書院,華英中學, 東華三院黃笏南中學, you shall see that KTS is actually much better.

It is available online at the site of http://life.mingpao.com/. You need to register as a member to access the information. The registration is free. The printed copy is available at certain 7-11 stores (mostly at MTR Stations). The purchase price is HK$80. With coupons in previous mingpao newspapers, it is only HK$40.

聖約瑟英文小學 does not provide its banding percentages and the secondary school allocation results, and so it is hard to directly compare the two primary schools. However, as 聖若瑟英文中學 is 直屬中學 of  聖若瑟英文小學, the secondary school public exam results may be used as one of the references for selecting the schools.

其實我都仲未決定會否俾仔仔入讀聖約瑟! 不過我想問若果最後仔仔入讀呢間小學, 到升中時會否容易考獲觀塘其他中學? 如: 聖言, 觀塘瑪利諾書院, 中華基督教會蒙民偉書院......等等!

I studied in 觀塘瑪利諾書院, which is a good secondary school. 聖言 is even better. Nevertheless, I graduated long time ago. So I do not have current information about their recruitment of primary students.

You have mentioned 中華基督教會蒙民偉書院, which is actually a good indication of the problem of school net in Kwun Tong. There are only a few good secondary schools in Kwun Tong. Even if your kid is band one in the district, it is still possible that he cannot get into a good school because of limited places.  中華基督教會蒙民偉書院 is already a relatively good choice for students in Kwun Tong and so all its students are band one. Nevertheless, its passing rate for HKCEE English is only 56%. In other words, nearly half of their students failed in English. Their credit ratios were also lower than the average of Hong Kong.

As you know, the Government and most schools in HK do not give full information to parents. Parents very often have to select schools in the dark. I just try to participate in this forum to exchange more information and so we can make better decisions for our kids.
