Which school in Kowloon has the following features?

Hi, I would like to gather some info for my son who would be in primary in Yr'06. I would like to find a school which focus on both English and Mandarin, do anyone know if any school in Kowloon uses Mandarin to teach Chi with English in all other subjects?
My friend tells me that maybe ESF fits but I have already miss their submission deadline for Yr’05 entry because I’m also told that their Chinese standard is not comparable to local standard, so any other suggestion from you?

You can try 祟真 int' class as well. I heard good feedback from some parents' from the mainstream class as they switch to Mandarin teaching for Chinese.

As I know, PLK CKY is quite new, they only have P.1 to P.4 now and their secondary school will be ready only after 2 years.  Do you know if the school can really deliver what they claim in terms of standards and quality?

I agreed with WYmom.  I don't have confident in the quality of the teacher.

These schools have short history.  Some parents like the style because children have less pressure.  For me, I don't have much confident since they have no past record.

I've visited the school web sites for the ones that you mentioned :

1) PLKTSL - local curriculum, Eng in most subjects, Cantonese for Chi. 40 students a class, $1x000 / yr. Seems only limited native teacher.

2) PLKCKY - sounds like int' curriculum, Eng in most subjects, Mandarin for Chi since P2. 30 students. Native teacher as the class teacher. $4X000 / yr.

3)崇真國際班 - local + int' curriculum, class size 10 - 25, Eng & Mandarin in all subjects, $4X000 / yr. Native teacher as the class teacher.

4) 真道 - int' curriculum? class size 30, not sure about the main language of teaching; $20000/yr. Cannot find info about native teacher.

It seems 2) and 3) should provide a richer language learning environment. My vision for my kid in primary stage : good mastery of both English and Mandarin + good discpline.

Any further info that you can share?

English is fair comparing to the same kind of  school.  They don't have a fixed curriculum for subjects to teach.  Materials are prepared by teachers and would be different from year to year.Parents don't know exactly what children learn from school.  But, no pressure and happy environment to children.

Yes, no confidence.  Any parents or educators know these schools better?  Are the kids' results good?

Even if some kids have good results, it doesn't mean your kid will. If that's the case but time fly away, then....
I don't know the pressure in those top school (eg, DGJS, Good Hope, MCS).   Some extent of pressure is not really very bad.  We need to teach our child how to get relief from those pressure.  
My girl who is in St. Mary has just finish her exam.  Pressure exist, of course during the time of exam.  But after that, she is so happy now enjoying the holiday waiting from a trip.
I believe her happilness is more than those who are always happy.

可考慮將軍澳/旺角之優才,有8年歷史,用芵文和普通話教學,有4名外藉老師,每班若24人,課外活動納入常規課程,較傳統學校活,但有不少默書,要考試,今年獲批辦中學, 一條龍,過往有不少學生考入著名中學.BK有該校的長期家長期論壇,可供參考.

保良局蔡繼有每班有中芵兩位老師上課,所以師生比例約為1:12,但高年班可能會有改變.

真道YR1-YR3是用廣東話上課,但無講幾時會正式用芵文和普通話上課,但中學一定是用芵文和普通話,因為我同事有兩個仔在真道讀中學.

ESF中以PHOENIX的中文水平較高,如沒記錯,每天都有中文課,以普通話教授,而且是用繁體字,有些ESF是用簡體字.國際學校的學生流動性大,有人走便有人可入學.PHOENIX低年班學費若$4980.

It’s always a never-ending argument if we compare traditional and the new concept schools. I believe for a bright student with good family background would do well in both. However, I guess even for these "new" schools, they do have pressure. I don't think that have less than in the traditional school because the assessment is on a continuous basis, meaning that you'd need to be good all the time, even during lessons, and not just during test and exam.

Logically, these “new” schools should have be able to recruit a strong pool of quality teachers and provide richer language environments; they're new and they should have more candidates to select for joining their teacher team during the economic downturns in these years. In addition, the proposition of native teacher is much higher as well. Anyone can provide some insight here?
