DBS同DBSP分了家,但DBS要求英文standard未有下降,
有朋友同我講:上學期p1有8學生追唔到,退了學.
請DBS家長回應吧??

Do you mean DBSPD, the newly opened one that 8 students withdraw?  Or you mean the old one DPS (Diocesan Preparatory School)?

Please clarify.

Sorry!打錯左, 朋友同我講係DPS,NOT DBSPD,如果資料有錯,pls inform,至於DBSPD,另一個朋友個仔讀緊,爸爸係西醫,媽咪係高級公務員,DBSPD經常做project,要求學生寫英文信比老師,朋友頂唔順,開學一個月用8,9千蚊請補習老師,至於有無人withdraw,就唔知啦!

May I know which class is your friend's son studying?  As far as I understand, my son (P.3) does not have much project to do at home (they do have some in class) but he was not asked to write English letters to teachers either.   On the other hand, in my own opinion, it is not necessary to chase what the teacher requests sometimes.  Teachers may want to test how high or far the standards of the students are so that they can adjust their teaching methods or pace.  One should let his teacher know that he has problems in certain areas and that's why he is there to learn!

The Principal of DBS at the very first beginning of the school year said he did not agree or encourage students to go for private tuition.

Just for sharing.

朋友個仔今讀新小拔p1,我唔知道佢讀邊班,但佢媽咪親口同我講,讀新小拔的小朋友係好開心,完全無壓力,佢地好鍾意返學,因為好多project 做,d project基本上小朋友唔會做,如小一寫英文信比老師,最后請左補習,自己有番私人時間,我仲同佢講,真係要請定補習都arm!今年寫信比老師,出年寫信比張校長,下年寫信比特首.ha!ha!
讀名校嘅full time 媽咪,而個仔又好smart,同 working mom(仲要O.T.到8/9點鐘),又想囝囝keep住standard,請補習係必然. 係會有兩種story+!!

I believe there isn't anyone withdraw from DPS P.1.   My son is in 1B

My son is study P.1 in DPS. It have 2 classes only. In my son class had 3 student withdraw, But I am not sure the reason.

My friend told me that the students in DPS speak English in class.Their English standard still remain high.

Dear Catcatmom,

Just want to let you know that I am a working mom also (though not necessarily working till 8 or 9 p.m.)!

I don't mind my son writing a clumsy or no-content letter to teacher/principal as long as it is from his own.  Of course, I may also guide him what to write.

As I have mentioned, teachers need to know how much the boys understand, and that's why they have so much classwork at school and little homework at home.  Because everyone will hand in their 'all-correct' answers from either parents or private tutors.

I believe the kid should be allowed some 'wrongs' so that he will improve next time or next next time.  This also helps the boy to be responsible for his own work and not his mother's duty to take care of his learning.

Sorry I am a bit out of thread here but just want to share my feeling.

That right. They are speaking English in the class unless Chinese & Mandarin lesson. He will invite the student join the special English class after the school , if they are not suit his English standard.  
DPS is quit demanding

actually, I cannot say too much about this school coz i have no kid study in DBSPD. I heard this story from one of friend whose son attending P1 in this school. I know this school started from 2004.
May be they have difference requirement for each class.P1-P3?

What do you think the English standard of DPS still remain high. For example, SFA, St Mary use P2 English textbook in Primary 1. How about DPS?

Sorry, I am not a right person to answer your question. Because I don't know what is the English standard for others. But my son likes go to school. He quit enjoyable his school life.  

BTW, some of suject is starting P.1(book C)
They are using a story book to learn the tenses.
