Re: Any kindgartan private tutor referred ?
Justine2002,
I think what a responsible teacher should do is to keep a parent informed of a student's standard, areas for improvement etc. What is wrong with the St. Cat's teacher in telling your sister how to improve her son? Why should we think so negatively that this is purely for the promotion of the school's reputation and ultimately for more profit?
I am not a St. Cat parent, but I am quite upset by your derogative thinking about them and parents in Hong Kong in general.

Wonder why you need a private tutor (especially from Kentville) for such a small boy at K2? Do the teachers tell you that he is not up to their standard? My sister was advised by St. Cat teacher to upgrade her son's English standard.
To me, kindergarten life should be a happy and enjoyable life. There should not be much homework, don't mention about the private tution! I personally disagree extra lessons on kindergarten kdis. They learn from school and teachers. Nowadays, every school tries their best to push their kids to enter into famous primary school and then use the entry ratio to recruit more students. Poor enough is that most parents buy this concept and also try their very best to 'push' their kids into these kind of kindergarten. However, this bad cycle continues and finally, it is our kids who suffer.
Sorry for this negative comment, but this is what I really feel the failure of our education system in Hong Kong.
