常識科專題研習報告, 其實是父母的功課.

我女女現讀小三, 由小一開始已有常識科專題研習報告, 仲是上下學期各一次.  三年級要做的scope更闊, 例如做旅遊, 要介紹一個國家的名種特色及景點, 每一個topic, e.g. 飲食, 就是一個open question, 需要自己搜集圖片及文字去fill in at least one A4 paper.  我覺得對一個8,9歲的小朋友難度幾高, 一個專題有10個topic, 已花了整個Easter holiday for preparation.  我不知道是否現在的小朋友好識用各種search engines to seach for suitable webpages, I don't have time to train her, so I search all the materials for her.  再叫她寫出重點, 我再修改及補充, actually this is the homework for parents as well.  

I know most of her classmates treat this project quite casually, but 我教她的宗旨是要盡力做好每件事, 所以都幾辛苦.  不知其他的小學常識科是否如是?

My daughter is P.3 and she also has to do similar project each term since P.1, the school provides guidelines, have to do some interviews, take photos, create something, write some recommendations etc.  Quite interesting, have to help her to find some materials and go to the relevant shops or so, though spend a lot of time, but can discuss with her a lot, and she also enjoys doing it with her own creativity.  This is much better than just memorizing the books.

I think the spirit of this kind of project is to train up students to plan, do and review. So, please take it relax and let her learn this no matter the outcome is not as your expected. If you help her to do, this will defect the project spirit.

The reason I say this is because I am taking as volunteer in school for this project. In my last year, I also help children to do what I expect. But the teacher reminds me that we just need to lead them how to think/search. The outcome is completely different but I can see all smile faces on children on the demonstration day. Also, they are just K2.

Give some more room for her to create her thinking is more important.

小小意見..
做專題研習,盡量不要讓子女在網上搵資料後,只係copy and paste,咁樣不但令佢地失去一些分析、綜合資料的機會,仲少左寫字既機會.
雖然打字係靚d,但係自己寫可以讓小朋友學多d字,寫多d字,仲可以提議叫佢發揮美術創意來寫靚dd字.
