我的囡囡06年將會升小一，想請教點解油天咁受家長歡迎，我聽聞舊校用活動教學，而新校用傳統的，考試測驗又多，好似跟現時家長的想法不同。

i also want to know why, because i've been hearing the name of this school quite a lot but purely on TV, media and mainly because the principal is the head of some kind of 'primary school's association', news reporters always interviewed him.

I can provide two of the reasons among others:

1. About 50% of the students are Band 1 in P.6.
2. The principal does good PR work. That's why you always see them on TV.

Some people still don't understand the importance of PR. In 油天's case, good PR elevates the school to the ranks of just below traditional 名校. Without the PR work, there will never be questions like "入油天定係喇沙好"appearing in BK. (although the answer is quite obvious...)

油天 is a good school, but I think it's overrated.

油天 is a good example to follow for those primary schools that don't have enough students. You need good PR work to attract students and parents. The era of 大鑊飯 education is over. To survive every school must do more than simply teaching.

For New Yau Tin, the school encourage extra-activities and very flexible and open minded. Not so many homework, most of students study there are very happy. A lot of parents & old boys & girls are devoted to the school, they are very helpful. If you don't want to push your kid so harsh but can get not too bad secondary place, it is a good choice.
