SFA and Alliance Primary (Kowloon Tong)

My son is not very lucky in the central allocation, so I decide to send him to the private school.  But I still not sure which one is better for him.  His English is Ok but Chinese is fair.  I think SFA's English standard is higher than Alliance.  I know that students in Alliance need to learn two muscial instructment.  I am not sure whether my son is patient enough or not.  However, I heard that the net (41) of Alliance is better than SFA.  Am I right?  I don't know how to choose and really worry about that.  Could any one give me some advice.  Thanks a lot!

I finally chose SFA because the higher standard.

APS is a private school.
Both schools are very good. The only difference is  APS is not a English primary school. But it has a good net in allocation for secondary school.
APS is only required the children to learn one music instrument except piano. Many children haven't learned piano. They are also OK and also got a good achievement in music. (eg. grade 8 violin in P5 or P6)
Maybe you will find that music is a very useful tool in applying secondary school in future.

Thank you for your information.  It is very useful.  May I ask you one more thing.  Would the marks of music needs to count in the examination.  If the students could not perform very well, would it affect them to promote?  

I heard that SFA may be good for boy.  Is it true?  Usually, which secondary school would the SFA graduates go?  Thanks again.

In APS, marks of music are counted, but it is not significant. Its weighting is the same as art and other minor subjects, while the weighting of each main subject, e.g. Chinese, English and Maths, are 3 times of the music subject.

Hi!  LeungLeungMom,

Is your children also the new P1 this year?  You told me that you chose SFA becuase its higher standard. Is it English or all subjects?  Usually, what kind of activities would the students join?  Is it any compulosry activities as Alliance (e.g. music)  If they do not learn music, would it reduce their chance to go to the band 1 secondary school in the future? Sorry to have so many questions?  :wink:

Now Ying Wah has its own Primary school.  Would they accept the students from other primary schools?  Personally, I like the Kowloon Kings' college.  Then which school should I choose?

My son's English is alright.   However, he is a little impatient.  Before I let him learn the theory of Music in Tom Lee when he was 4.  The teacher and the oher parents complained that he moved a lot and disturbed the others.  Therefore, I dared not to try again.  It is one of the reasons that I could not make up my mind.   Could you give me some suggestions.  Thank you.

Then you should choose SFA.

APS is not a Catholic school. It is a Christrian school. It only has none or one student entering 九龍華仁書院 each year.

I have great doubt of whether the allocation to Secondary School is according to the school's religion ?? Catholic to Catholic, Christrian to Christrian, then how about school without any religion ??

SFA stand for St. Francis of Assisi’s English Primary School in Sham Shui Po.  In addition, I believe that APS is not allocated to 九龍華仁書院 is because they are in different district, SFA is at the same distrct with 九龍華仁書院.  Please correct me if I am wrong.

How are the others children?  What happen to those students who cannot meet the standard at APS and SFA ?
