Hi mandymama,

I have attempted St. Louis's parent orientation day but the impression was bad.  The event was poorly organized.  Of course it is only an event and not fair to judge a school on it.

St. Louis starts to turn full-time and English this year.  I believe it is a big challenge to all the teachers.  Unfortunately, I'm not sure how the teachers have been trained to conduct classes in English.

Just my two cents.

sorry, i type chinese very slow, allow to speak in Chinglish.

we attended the seminar also.  we were deeply impressed by the speech and approach.  the father even told us that he could and was able to spend much more time than 'regular' ppl with the boys even after school times since he has no family burden.  they had answered all the queries from the parent after the presentation and slideshow.  the new structure was well planned and was explained in details.. through  the slide show its emthusisastism was also very impressed.  they even planned a new activity (new for junior but old for senior students) which is very economic to parents after school that covers homework, revision, snack, outings (occasionally) and in-house activities such as sports and musical organs etc. i chat with some senior students nearby my place and they liked this this program coz they could finish all the assignment and go back home relaxingly. besides, there is also a one week primary 1 'get-ready' class which is free and inclusive....

for rosary, its primary is also very good and i was also impressed by its campus and speech. however, the rumor about its sec was not that good so you might ask more bk mum for info abt this.

單睇兩間學校，聖類斯當然好過玫瑰崗。
而且玫瑰崗係私校，不是亞可讀緊細妹一定要收。請注意！
港島區女仔都有好多非派位的選擇：（不計男女校）聖心上午，聖嘉勒，聖保祿等。

Agreed with Yuanli. Rosary Hill is a private school and your son allocation result will have no effect on your daughter's chance of admission into Rosary Hill.

As a catholic, you may try Wah Yan for your son coz you've already got 20 marks, you may also consider Raimondi (needs to give up lucky draw if admitted).

For your daughter, St. Paul Catholic in Happy Valley is a good choice.

Are you in Wanchai net? or Central & Western Net?

Since St. Jo has 8 classes, the chance for winning lucky draw is quite high(Wanchai net) (parent of St. Jo kinder says 50%), if you choose it in 1st and 2 nd phase  allocation, the chance for successful in "knocking door" is also high. So if St. jo is your first choice, you may consider apply St. Louis as back up.

St. Clare is also a good choice for back up.

其實你知否玫瑰崗小學是否一個好的選擇呢?  因我覺得兩兄妹如能在同一學校讀書, 能方便日後照顧.  否則唯有分開男女校讀書. 因中西區和灣仔區大部份天主教學校都是分開男仔和女仔的.

其實你要考慮既係, 宗教重要d定係2兄妹同校重要d.

我都好明白你想比佢地去返catholic school, 但係contraint太多.  你列既2間學校我覺得男校那間好些, 另一間就... (有其他既我都唔會選呢間).

天主教既男女校, 又要在中西區 (派位計), 好似冇.  天主教既男女私校, 真係好小.  你有冇諗過去quarry bay canossa 叩門?  canossa school primary係男女校, 校風唔錯.  而且因為係嘉諾撤會學校, 妹妹要轉去scared heart / st. francis 都唔太難. 而哥哥上亦可以搵番天主教男校中學, 選擇會多d.

Sorry for the mistake. I failed to note that your are asking for Catholic school. However, 玫瑰崗 is not the option to go for.

1. 天主教總堂區學校 (津貼,全日)
2. 中西區聖安多尼學校 (津貼,全日)
3. 聖安多尼學校 (津貼, 全日)
4. 聖嘉祿學校 (津貼, 半日)

灣仔區天主教男女校有:
1. 寶血小學 (津貼, 全日)
2. 玫瑰崗學校（私立, 全日)

Maybe 玫瑰崗 primary is OK but its seconday section is certainly not. Then 何苦?

Out of the catholic schools suggested by ccmeow, I will rate 聖嘉祿學校 slightly higher than the other three in the central and western district. But among all of course 寶血小學. You can refer to the EMB reports most of these schools.

老實說, "港島+天主教+男女校", 以個別學校說, 統統都不是首選的學校。

作為教友,很明白,也很欣賞你希望子女接受天主教教育的熱誠, 有家長說得對, 其實你應衡量, 天主教學校重要些, 還是兩兄妹同校重要些。個人選了前者，而且身邊很多教友家庭子女, 都是 聖心+聖若瑟 , 聖嘉勒+聖類斯, 聖保祿+華仁.....可以看到, 大家首要是選好學校+天主教, 兄妹是否同校還是次要。

還要提醒你: "好"中學+天主教+港島+男女, 是沒有的，橫豎遲早都要分校。

I agree with mrs_tom. I even know some devout catholics with their daughters studying at SSGC or Ying Wah in this school net.
