有沒有優才的家長教考小一的入學心得?

優才學校 is a very good DSS school and the competition is extremely difficult (for 2005 is about 28:1). Its campus in Tseung Kwan O is new and functional.
But for 2006 P1 students they will go to the Mongkok campus (near Mcfarson) where the hardware may not be as good as the Tseung Kwan O school.
For those parents having child to P1 in 2006, the 入學簡介會 is a 'must-attend' event where you can have a more indepth knowledge about child and gift-talented education.
For those parents really want to have a place for yr child in this school, you must attend 入學簡介會 and to demonstrate your active participation. You must stay around after the seminar and chat with the Principal - Mr. Chan and other speakers and let them have a good impression on you. Then after the seminar, send a thank you letter to the Principal for his enlightening presentation. By doing all these will give your child more chance to get a seat in this school.

Agreed with AlanB.  But AlanB may scare many interested parents off as his web site is so content rich and fantastic.  It is really not necessary to put that level of information as it is too much.

What is more important is the participation and contribution from Parents and they have to demonstrate their commitment toward the education and caring of their child.  

Pls remember Parents must be well prepared for the interview.  For children the assessment is very simple and easy.

For your information.  They will have interview with the parents and test your kids through some games.

I overlooked.  They have mentioned so clear in the previous conversation.  They are right, don't be worry.  Just read their website and know more about this school.  The examiner just wants to test your understanding of this school and your intention.  I learned from my kid, it was just simple question and asked them to write their name either in Chinese or English.  Through the games to test his/her intitiatives or wether they will follow the instruction.

As I know they will have some gifted student, but not all.  I believe our kids are still young, you don't know which subjects or activities that they could get the good results.  Frankly, I am still finding the talent of my kid.  

I like GT school.  You better find out whether their teaching method (少功課,鼓勵多實淺) suits for you & your children & their intention (學校的意向) are same as yours.  Because some of the parents want to have more exams or homework to train up their children.

I learned some case, some of the parents let their children change to another school due to less homework.

thanks! 其實我都仲係15..16唔知報唔報直資小學.
一來係 學費問題,  起碼要比足十年學費.
二來係怕考試題目會"天馬行空", 到時都唔知點溫習.
但我相信依類學校會好適合我個百厭仔,

我覺得如果你有d心儀的直資小學, 報下都無防, 收了先算, 免得後悔.

I am so angry; I tried to answer your question in Chinese.  I typed a long message, it was suddenly disappeared, already twice.  So, let me answer in English again.

Actually, I had the same question as you in the past.  But, I believed my choice is correct.  GT School has Putonghua Speaker/Teacher and Native English Speaker with high qualification.  I can save money for sending my daughter to others centre (補習班) after school． Also, save time.　GT School has 50 types of extra-activities; you know I spent $1000-2000/months for my kid in learning different courses and find out her talent.   So, I may save more money in concentrating to develop her talent.  唔駛浪費d無謂錢， 將軍澳d津/管小學有d 好谷, 有d 好普通, 有d 好多新移民,  我真是沒有那一間特別喜愛的小學.  我計過出九龍讀書,車費一條數(~$1000).  When I read the news about the 7 years old boy today (cut his arm by unknown people), how so terrible.   I really trust my choice is correct.  Sometimes, I met the teenagers in Web Bar, I had a bad feeling, 我同情他們的父母.  學校環境是好重要，朋輩的影響好大．　  

I remember when I attended the introduction session by GT School, Professor Lee mentioned that don’t miss the chance for your children having the high quality education due to School fee.  So, I will reduce my expense on some unnecessary items.    DSS School will have subsidy by Gov’t if you are qualified.

I also understand GT School will have some rich children, don’t be worry, try to teach our children in patient.

Not all the things are perfect.  Just avoid.

I also accepted by GT and will pay 留位費 tomorrow.  But GT just I accepted my son in MK campus.  What do you think about MK campus?

Just want to clarify, 協恩不是傳統學校．我意思是如果我們選擇了傳統學校，便好苦．　　My friend's daughter employ tutor due to 人人都有，佢怕個女成績追唔上．　佢迫住請．

I am not sure.  But, GT school should have experience on this.  Before moving to TSO, they also have a branch in Kowloon Tong & Lee King Wan.  Until they had a big school in TSO, they merged together.  The headmaster in GT School is a engergetic guy.  I trust him and Professor Lee.  Those information, I learned from their graduates.

We need to support them if we become their members.
