My elder son is studying at Pui Kiu. But my younger son failed in Pui Kiu's second interview. Luckily he was allocated to Shatin Govt Primary School. I have very limited knowledge about this school. Most of my friends said that this is a good school in Tai Wai. But no one can tell me how good it is - may be a certain %of students (esp from the 2 elite classes) can be sent to Shatin Govt Sec School. I already registered it for my son and bought the books. But I found that the contents of the P.1 books (such as Chin, Eng and Maths) are very easy (similar to that of K3 standard) -- Not sure if this is because of the honey moon period for P.1 students? I also worry the pressure: the competition among the students to enter into the “elite class” in P.4 – P.6 should be very keen.
Last Sunday morning, we received the call from Pui Kiu that my younger son was offered a place. I realize that my sons shall be happy if they can study in the same school. This is also more convenient to the parents. Pui Kiu can provide a better language environment and more extra-curricular activities. But when I can compare the public exam results of Shatin Govt Sec School with that of Pui Kiu, I have some hesitation to give up Shatin Primary. My younger sister warned me that it would be very stupid to give up Shatin Govt Primary School. |
