What sort of comments ?
max ratio is 1:6. -  safe
shallow pool
kids learn to be familiar in water rather than learn diff strokes for competition
parents can watch from the side, about 3meters away
warm water pool, temp-regulated changing room, warm enough even in winter
kids do not necessarily pass / progress to next level - need to pass continuous assessment and meet certain targets

Thanks for your detailed info!  How about the 教練? Female or male for 3-5 yrs kids?

班班不同，有多位，有男有女，有些大班(6人以上)會分開2小班，由2個instructors 教。無得揀。
無問題架，個淺池中間位置就是救生員的高台，又有些工作人員(姐姐及姨姨)行來行去。
小朋友堂上要去wee-wee的話，就由姐姐或姨姨帶出帶入。不會走失。如果小朋友扭計哭唔肯落水，會有姐姐或姨姨及教練tum。通常過3堂必定不再扭計，因見到其他小朋友玩得很開心。
無壓力，玩水性質多過學泳式。
有數位bk媽咪的小朋友都在tst ymca 游水。

What is your major concern / are you worried about anything ?

I'm also interest, how much per month ? How many lessons per month, 1 or 1.5 hr per lesson ? Do the instructor young ? Sorry for so many questions.

My son went to his first lesson a few days ago.  He cried because of separation only.  Since he was the youngest among the 5 kids, the instructor paid particular attention to him and was very patient and nice.  Instructors are of different age.  My son's instructor is in her mid-twenties but there are also some in his/her thirties.  They charge on a per term basis, $780 for members and $850 for non-members.  Each term consists of 10 sessions and the duration of each session is 50 minutes.

My son started his first lesson yesterday and the situation is pretty much the same.  The coach is pretty patient and you feel confidence with the environment as well.  The security guard stands there and watch them out.  Newly renovated changing room are very nice.  There's a place for the parents to stand and can watch out the whole session.  By the way, my son loves it so much and don't want to go.

d小朋友好多時見到爸媽才大哭扭計不肯落水。見不到爸媽無得詐嬌其他小朋友又玩得開心，先會"死死地氣"止哭玩水 。
我見過有位和我個仔同班的小朋友就是這樣。結果他升班比我個仔更快!!

以前(apr2005未裝修前)，家長要看小朋友游水要扮長頸鹿才僅僅看到。現在將個玻璃欄推前了，才可以full view看。

這裡游泳算安全，因泳班歷史悠久。d教練通常很young，有些是part-time教練，全職教練通常教6y+班，training。但具備某些qualifications才會獲聘的，較d無經驗的舉辦單位，當然安全得多。ymca自己有泳隊的。

下次報名將會是暑假班，會比冬季更多人報名，會開多d班，但仍然full得很快。一係你做family member，或選擇些冷門時間(eg 7am sat)，或肯去例如青衣ive大人泳池上，才會較易有位。
再唔係就等9/10月那個quarter的泳班，因12月中才上完，很多家長怕天氣較涼小朋友凍，或因要上學，會較少人報名。

tst ymca是暖水池，changing rooms 和泳池內開暖氣，小朋友穿短袖泳衣+潛水衣質料背心，上水出來家長即刻替他披張乾的大毛巾，已經夠暖。changing room內，我冬天替個仔換衫時，會覺得熱到出汗。

Hi Peggychai & danielboy,

Can you tell me which ymca centre your son is attending, the one at waterloo road or the one at Canton Road?
Do you need to queue up very early for application?

My son is attending swimming classes at YMCA of TST, the building right next to Peninsula Hotel.  To be precise, I think that is Salisbury Road.  I didn't need to queue up because I am a YMCA member.  Members and non-members do not enrol at the same time.  The enrolment for members usually start 10-14 days earlier.

Which class is your son attending?  Actually, he was one day short of 3 years old on his first lesson.

I agree with you.  The YMCA pool is not new to my son.  He has been there many many times and indeed had attended 2 sessions of Aqua-tots before.  In addition, he can actually dive into the water.  He is clearly not scared to swim.  He just couldn't accept that he had to attend the classes by himself for the first time and wanted to draw my attention.

Thanks a lot for your advice.  Indeed, I have been missing his babyhood a lot ever since he turned 2 years old.  He is a very mature boy.  His behaviour is at least 6 months older than his actual age.
