唔該Ming2, 但我唸好少老師好似你咁好，而且我亦較難安排親自帶小朋友上堂，　同埋就咁聽老師講係咪就可以明白點樣提點下小朋友呢？　因自己從未學過琴，　而我個小朋友亦絕對不是好自覺好懂性個種，　所以都擔心唔知點俾佢學好。

I think if you are unable to go along with you kid to the piano class or talk to the teacher directly, the teacher would write down on the piano book which areas required special attention and important points to note during practice.

Yes, I also think Ming2 advice is really valuable and she is really kind to share with us.

我個仔學左差不多半年鋼琴, 每星期一堂, 每次半小時, 初時我都有同佢一齊上堂, 後期我費事勞氣就由得佢一個上, 返而仲好.

每次學完回家, 叫佢彈比我聽, 佢都話在miss 處彈左就夠, 回家唔使彈....
(不過, 我只係有個cheap 野電子琴仔, maybe 同真鋼琴差好遠)

佢而家4歲7個月, 學緊John Thompson's part two, Miss 話若屋企放唔落鋼琴就出去琴行練. 等佢真係有興趣考等三四級先買都未遲. 又或者租琴回家練

其實你可到通利租琴, 但可能要排隊!  我也租了4年, 剛剛才買。老師常說不要用電子琴練習，因為力度有所不同。 如地方許可，租琴也不欠失為一個好方法！

Don't use electrical Piano as the it will be differnt with a real piano. If you don't have space for a piano, 到通利租琴 is ok.

很多琴行都有提供租琴室的服務，通常每節30分鐘，費用$15-20不等，視乎你一次過買多少時間而定。

我囡囡初學時都有在五洲、樂華等琴行租琴練。記得一次買大約$180-200的套票(約10-12次)，一個月內用完。我家中都有個幾百元的電子琴，通常一個星期去琴行練2、3次(其實一、兩次都夠)，其餘時間則日日在家中練，就這樣維持了大半年，覺得會一路學落去先買琴。

個人認為，初學者唔買琴都可以，但鋼琴同電子琴的感覺畢竟有分別，所以也應讓小朋友感覺鋼琴的feel。

if rent the piano at home, how much per month and we need sign contract or not? how long if need contract? can you change mind to buy the previous piano after rent for a long while (let's say 1 year), any idea?

I did consider to rent a piano at home for my son as he is also a starter. But finally I decided to buy a xxth hand piano for him (which is only HK$6,000, its a old Kawaii piano). I think it's even more value for money to buy a 2nd/Xth hand piano than renting it at home, cos' if you plan to rent it for a long term, then the cost is similar. And, for renting, they will charge you a fixed transportation fee, in my case, the transportation already costs around HK$1400 as I live on the 3rd floor of an old building without lift.

最近有一種叫"數碼鋼琴", 聽講話要用力彈才有声, 唔似电子琴咁摸吓都彈到. 又比較細. 有人話如初學 可以用"數碼鋼琴" 練先, 等學得幾年 知道個小朋友會繼續學, 才考慮買鋼琴.  因見許多小朋友學咗幾年琴 就唔肯學, 呀媽見到屋企個琴就頭痛.  請比点意見!

呀 King 唔系學鋼琴, 只是上通利音樂班 半年 la.  佢爸爸係大陸買咗個 cheap cheap 數碼鋼琴 比 呀 King 日日練琴.  每次上堂前 我都早 15 min 到通利叫佢用鋼琴(放系度任人玩果 d)  彈多次, 見佢都 OK wor.  d 同學仔媽咪重問 有否另外學琴 tim. 搞到佢自信心爆炸, 重話要教同學仔 ar 比佢激死

I cannot recall the rental fee but should be around HK$300.  The rental fee also depends on the age of piano.  Actually, I rented for 4 years and finally get a new one from Tom Lee.  

You need to sign a contract with them but I can't recall the details.  

If you decided to buy a new piano from Tom Lee, you can get 3 month's rental fee reinburse from them.  Besides, my son's piano teacher (also a best friend of my sister-in-law and used to be a teacher in nursery school) advise me don't buy a used piano.  She mentioned that used piano sometimes with different brand's parts inside.  Also, even some of the second handed piano comes from Japan.  Tom Lee will not responsible for all repairs.  You will found difficulties when you need to repair or tuning.

Actually, you can buy a cheaper one depends on the grade of your children.   My son will having his grade 5 exam this November and my piano cost around HK$50,000 and pay by instalment.  

It's pretty good.  The piano teacher said this one can be used until grade 8.
