傳統學校轉校讀IB 問意見

大家好!
現時我兩個小朋友都讀傳統小學(津校)，經歷咗兩年極之繁忙的小學生涯，發現傳統教學原來同我地既年代一樣，缺乏比小朋友有發揮創意空間。另一方面，去聽咗一些直資IB學校的講座，好認同佢地既方向(不過實際讀係點?真係唔知) 。上黎想問下各位意見，特別係由傳統學校轉校去IB school的家長, 究竟IB實際讀會係點? 我的小朋友適合嗎? 希望有過來人分享一下及比意見。

背景:
大仔有ADD(及疑似高功能自閉症), 現小二, 書不離手, 中英文閱讀能力高, 成績中上。學校無乜friends, 呢兩年的班主任都明白佢情況, 對佢體諒, 但一班太多人始終未必顧到咁多。做野易分心。

細仔現小一, 都鍾意睇書, 但閱讀能力一般, 數感好, 轉數快, 鍾意做手工, 畫畫, 有創意, 但現時學校無乜空間比佢發揮, 學生較多friends, 未考試未知成績, 但暫時讀書都可跟上。自理能力佳, 做功課好有效率。

以我limited 理解，自主學習。
有冇諗過幾間hk ib 成績好的學校，小學初中都是傳統課程

IB 一點也不容易讀.

第1, 英文要勁好(鬼仔級數).
第2, 小朋友的轉數要快, 自發能力要高.
第3, 父母要有extra money, 替小朋友找一些有錢都不太容易找到的 IB 補習老師 (ie $800 per hour but always full).
第4, 要花時間做 charity 及 leadership.

以下是今年 Year 13 的 essay 題目.

2018 IB ToK (Theory of knowledge) Essay topics:

Topic 1. Are interdisciplinary approaches to knowledge confusing?
Topic 2. More knowledge increases doubt. (Goethe quote)
Topic 3. Knowledge requires an assumption of uniformity.
Topic 4. Suspension of disbelief is essential to knowledge.
Topic 5. Historical duration of disciplines of knowledge.
Topic 6. Robust knowledge requires both concensus and disagreement.

搬d題目出嚟都冇用，就算深，不代表答案是自己做，這不是堂上功課及測驗！

可以要做，老師一路跟學生的思路，但有為數不少的lS及LS學生是有搵人作或者改過篇 essay 才交！所以只計 bonus，而非直接計分！

英文要好當然，仲要唔討厭寫好多野。

但係咪難讀就好難講。

我聽到由傳統辛苦轉去讀IB 都係出好成績。

Take home exam is never easy. The questions asked can be borderless, and the examiners should have already taken into account that the students will get external help or "group work". And also taken account into "答案不是自己做".

And beware the kids are only Year 13 students, their minds are still fresh no matter what. And don't trust after many years of IB training, the kids can turn impossible into possible.

In my relative's school, the IB teacher provided no guidance on these topics.

The kids were allowed for 1 month's time to complete one of the topics worldwide. I am sure many parents did involve into the topics at the back end. But the outcome was, only 3 students could complete the 1st draft on time in the whole class but regardless of the quality. And the teacher would only mark what had been submitted before the deadline.

Or, the parents' involvement is not much use in these topics. So, do prepare to meet many many of the challenges if taking the IB courses.

But if doing DSE in HK, you can find various of resources very easily, handy and cheap.

Taken into account 答案不是自己做？

唔係咁得人驚呀！咩學校有咁既問題？

你意思係其他人無交，tok 完全無分？如果真係只得一個月做就學校安排好有問題。我問過孩子，dp第二年一開始要選題目，草擬大綱同老師傾，first draft , then final draft。每個程序也有死線，由選題到final draft肯定超過一個月。

阿女學校老早已討論EE題目。已經思考緊。

謝謝分享! 想請教IBDP會唔會適合女仔讀多啲，因為男仔作文未必咁叻，諗野又未必似同年紀女仔成熟？DSE反而可集中讀理科

其實 IB 通常係講緊高中課程。由初小到高中用 IB 的學校唔多。
