Band 1! Really ?

Does anybody know how is it classified?

The standard of my son's school is not that high. But it claims it has 75% band 1. Does it mean that it count within ones'school.

I wonder because I found the standard of my son's school is not high. So, it is very easy for the students to get As. That is why many of us are claimed as band 1 students. However, when I compare my son's school academic level with other schools, I found my son's school is far behind!

Creative課程唔深，但band1%很高。

I think banding is not determined by the 課程深與淺.  It depends more on the quality of the students. Currently, P.6 students' banding is calculated according to the schools' historical public exam results and the current students' internal exam results.    In Kowloon City regions, as there are more band 1 EMI schools, so most band 1 students can enter band 1 SS if they select their schools with correct strategies.  

Creative is a private primary school.  Not sure how they calculate the banding of P.6 students, but I believe most of them will enter band 1 public or private EMI SS or international schools as they at least come from "more wealthy" families (who can afford $6000 school fee per month).  So the school will be able to have a very high % of students distributed to band 1 EMI schools.

當年是透過學能测驗定義Banding的。所以有很多學校不教書(特别是不教英文)，專操學能测驗，以提高banding。

Creative雖然唔深，但教得不錯，應該不是那種唔教書專操專操學能試的學校，放心。

唔係，the percentage of students entering band1 EMI schools for these schools should be:

聖方濟各英文小學 > 95%
九龍塘小學 > 95%
禮賢 > 85%

The bandings of students do not depend on what secondary schools they enter. There are only band1 students but not band1 schools since a banding is clearly assigned to each student.

Having said that, most people refer those schools accepting high percentage of band1 students as band1 secondary schools, and those producing high percentage of band1 students as band1 primary schools.

我個女讀緊都係港島某區小學 brand 1/P.1 但其實又我係選小一先知呢間學校,暫時程度都same as 幼稚園 k3,
但幼稚園又係係區內一間好普通幼稚園 只係係區內已多年history.
