beginner of Ballet is somehow different with the pre-primary grade.

As far as I understand, some school will allow kids to join pp grade but exam only when he/she get ready.

Usually if talking about Beginner grade, we will refer to Adult beginner, that usually around grade 5-6 at the level.

As far as I knwo, Royal Ballet has a new syllabus which can be joined at the age of 2.5yr. But when to start, it depends whether the child has interest or not.

我的囡囡(3 years old) 在沙田毛妹上了3個月beginner class, $500一個月,一星期一堂(45分鐘),我最初只是想給她試試,看她有沒有興趣,因為王仁曼7月才有班,而且要再買她們的芭蕾舞衣,學費好似貴d,所以我沒有join,however, I will let my daughter to start her new beginner class in Jordan培藝 in August (I get the information also from BK's member), she has tried for one lesson.  The teachers were quite good and the school fee is more cheaper ($360) for one month.  I changed the school all because I live in Lam Tin.  It takes a long time to travel to Shatin (毛妹).

Thanks for your information.  The timetable in Star House is not fit for me.  They only has lesson in the Saturday morning (I need to go to work).  I want to take my daughter to learn ballet by myself.  So I now join the Beginners Class in 培藝 at Jordan.  She will begin the class in August.  How about your daughter?  

Anyway, thanks a lot for your advice.

My daughter hasn't started.  I tried showing her some ballet videos but she wasn't interested and so I didn't enrol for her.  Actually, it was me who danced in TST 毛妹 before, many many many years ago.

For pp grade, does it mean that the kid has to be 5 years old already when she joins the class?  Or just need to be 5 when she takes the exam which is usually by May each year?

Is there also an age requirement for Grade 1 exam?

The child needs to be at least 5 to take pre-primary exam, 6 for primary and 7 for Grade 1-5.

培藝 is situated at Room 501, 102 Austin Road, Kowloon and the telephone number is 27368380.  My daughter has tried for one lesson last Saturday which was free of charge.  She will start to learn ballet at there started from August.  She takes her course in Shatin 毛妹 from May.  How about your daughter?   Anyway you can try to contact "First Step" to ask for more information.  Actually, I got the information from BK's mom advice and I hope the above is useful for you too.
