Clifton College was set up as a traditional boys boarding school and only started taking girls towards the end of 1980s. Clifton High School (for girls) was set up as a girls school and only went co-ed towards the end of 2000s.
Clifton College arguably the more famous of the two is a large-sized boarding school with over 1200 students (from nursery to upper sixth). Clifton High School runs on the diamond edge system and is a medium sized day school with around 600 students.
