Any comments on ESF English courses?

Hi, all,

ESF company offers some English courses on Saturday morning. The course fee is quite expensive, around $6000 per term.

Any comments or feedback about the course? Is it worthwhile? Do they focus on conversation only ?

My daughther age 5 has enrolled the autumn term.  But she said she alos speak cantanese with other kids.  Thus i had decided to drop after this term.  

I still need to say, some work that she bring home is not bad.  Maybe it is all depends on the age and the personality of your kid.

That's what I worried. I guess the teacher do not stop kids from speaking Cantonese... I girl is also 5.  Which campus did your girl go?

My daughter attend the QuarryBay school.

My Son is 4 years old and he is now attending
the autumn term at Tsing Yi.  He told me that
when some of the kids spoke Cantonese, the
teacher will say "no Chinese".

My son is also attending the autumn term in Quarrybay school.
Are you in the Tue/Thu section or Sat section?
In the first lesson, the teacher told me they won't allow the kids to speak in chinese, but it seems very difficult to control every minutes.

My daughter attended 2 semesters in Quarry Bay School.  The first teacher would ask the kids to speak in English.  On the parents day (parents invited to sit in) she told me that my kid was a "star" in the class (my girl loves to participate).   After 2 weeks when the new semester started, she did not even say hello when we met (just as we were transparent" ) and you can tell my kid was quite upset.  

The teacher of the 2nd semester was an Asian (don't know her background).  It seems to me that a lot of the teachers are not British but rather from Australia and other European countries etc.  Given the high fees that they charge, I did not enrol further courses.


The level of British Council is pretty easy  (my kid attended k2 classes) and I heard the kids speaking in Cantonese since the class size was large (16 kids in my case).

My daughter is not taking any English classes now.  I was thinking about ABC Pathways but it seems that the feedback from other BK mamas is not positive.  

Any recommendations?

It's really difficult to find a good English course. Basicly, the English courses privide by any centers can not garantee that kids do not speak Cantonese. I can understand the situation.

I have tried private tutor too, but it is not easy to find a good one....Very troublesome...

Any recommedation for good English course or private tutore will be very much appreciated.

My daughter attend the Tue/Thur section.
Understand the teacher say no chinese in the class, but i believe it is rather difficult to control especially it is not a small group.

My son is also taking the Tue/Thu section. I know the group is rather big, I can't find other better choice at the moment. Do you have any plan for your kid while you quit this group?

I think it is quite good to attend 2 English lessons during weekday.
