請問五歲小朋友初學英文,是否先學'phonics'比較好? 有沒有好的英語學校介紹?

朋友個仔讀過'frends',佢話都係一般, 而家係到找更.
有人話'interkids'幾好, 但收費都幾貴. 我想找間平平地,唔知
東區重有無好介紹?

really? what did your friend's son take there? We finished Jolly phonics there. Teacher is patience and of course, 1-hr can only teach you basic stuffs. I still need to do a lot of practice at home and check with teacher if we are not sure. Like some kids taking the same time with him but never practice at home, of course, they wont' learn it.

Since then, he got 100 in dictation all the times and so I think my money worth to spend.

Of course, you do need to try yourself, but too cheap may not good lah.

I am interested in the phonic course you said, may I ask the following question:
1. how much for a course/lesson?
2. how many lessons for the whole course?
3. how many students in a class?
4. native/local teacher?
5. any other course provided for 4-6 yr old kid?
6. is it the one just opposite to the FortressHill MTR?

It was 30 lessons for the whole course, $150 per lesson. I think they have extended that to 40 lessons now. There were only 4 at that time, they said it can be up to 6. It was a native teacher.

You are right, it is the one just opposite to the FortressHill MTR station. There are different programs, you can checkout their latest info at website.

完全同意。我仔仔和朋友的女兒都在frends讀過，上完半年之後，完全不記得之前教過的東西。雖然價錢便宜，但不值得一讀。

English or phonics need long time practice and 2-ways effort, we practice a lot with the worksheets they gave us in the class. The phonics program itself teaches us a lot on the concepts on those sounds, I don't believe my son got them all after 30 lessons but we do continue to apply what he learnt by doing reading and conversational classes at centre and school. I guess different program works for different kids. After all, I am still happy with them as my son is now always A in English and is confident in it.
