Violin and Piano ! Please help !

My son needs to do a project about piano and violin. This project will elaborate the same and different of these two musical instruments.

We have included the outlook, the sound system, the examination system and the history. I would like to say something more in the learning and examination/grading system of these two instruments.

I know that in violin from grade 3 and above will require to know the different positions. Can any moms tell what are the details of this requirement ? e.g. Grade 1 -- 1st position , Grade 2 - 2nd position, Grade 3 -- 3rd position and so on ??  

Regarding the piano, is that the higher grade required to play a song with more sharp and flat note ?

If your son is working on a project about "piano and violin" then probably you should not include the AB exam system as it would seems to be too specific and slightly irrelevant.

I suggest you to dig deeper in history......Very likely you have already included the origin or both instruments.....things like the harpsichord/fortepiano and Viol are worth mentioning.........some photos of them maybe. Names of makers of both keyboard and violins like Cristofori (keyboard), Stradivarius (violin)
and nowadays "steinway and Sons"(piano) are worth digging into too

What about Performers and music of both instruments??

Some funny facts like Violins are older the better but pianos are not....why.......paganini was described as
being processed by demons for his talent in playing the violin.......Liszt's popularity.......he was so loved by his female admirers even more than Yundi Li nowadays.....

My boy is a Form 2 student. He is required to hand-in a project regarding the Piano and Violin. His teacher has given him some guidelines in this respect. The report should talk about the same and different of these two musical instruments such as:-
the picture of old instruments;
the development history;
the sound system;
the grading system;
the requirements of different grading in the public examination  ( his teacher asked my son to touch more in this aspect ) ;
the future development;
any famous players, composers;

茵茵 is absolutely correct in saying:

你之前講既position. 小提琴有唔同把位(position)並唔係因為升級要轉，G1 1st position, G2 2nd position 完全錯誤．

It is not that grade 3 = 3rd postion, or grade 4 = 4th postiion.  In fact, playing in the 2nd position is generally more difficult than playing in the 3rd position.  Playing in higher positions means you have to shift the entire left hand higher to play the higher notes.  For an example, when playing in the 1st position, you use your ring finger (3rd finger) to get the D on the A string.  In the 3rd poosition, however, you use your pointer (the 1st finger) to play the D.  In other words, your 1st finger in its 3rd positiion is doing what the 3rd finger is doing in the 1st position.  Hope this explanation works.

Some more questions, I can't find the requirement of 1st, 2nd .... positioning in the ABRSM and Trinity syllabus. Can you tell me some details in this respect ? i.e. the positioning requirement in each grade.

Any skill requirement in piano is similar to the positioning in violin ?
