SH Parents, please help!

Hello!
SH parents,

My daughter is studying in NC now.
So far I think SH is a very good KG for my child and she likes going to school everyday
However, as a mother, sometimes I feel very confused:

1.
The teacher didn’t tell us to bring which books to school at the very beginning.
I heard from the teacher on the commencement day that Monday to Thursday – 主題書 and Tuesday to Thursday – English books.
Recently the school posted 親子蜜語 on the EVI stated that we should bring主題書 from Monday to Friday and English books from Tuesday to Thursday.
The other books are only for home revision.



2.
I received 3 books on a Friday that are 小肌肉練習, 中文兒歌 and 英文兒歌.
I really had no idea what these are for.



3.
親子功課紙 – I found a sheet in the school bag one day and I didn’t know it should be submitted or not and when to submit.

4.
Last Tuesday, my daughter asked me to give her the book “小猴子長大了” and bring it back to school.
I was very puzzled and finally I recalled the theme for Oct. 17 to Nov. 17 is小猴子長大了.
Therefore we should take 小猴子長大了 instead of 上學第一天.

As I have so many questions, I finally called the teacher first week of October asking that maybe I missed some 通告 or important notes posted on EVI.
She answered all my questions patiently and asked me to call her anytime when I’ve some queries.
But she didn’t answer me where I can get the information.

NC parents, do you encounter the same problems?
To iterate, I’m not complaining about the school or the teachers.
I just want to solve the problems.
From my knowledge, the teachers use to writing some notes in the handbooks telling the parents about the homework or special books or things to take back to school.
Being a working mummy, sometimes I cannot call the teachers during the office hours and I really have some pressure in dealing with these situations.
Can any parent share your experience?

1.     帶書問題我又冇wor, 因為開學第一日老師都講過,而且之後都俾左張memo remind我地邊日帶咩書(星期一至四帶中文書, 星期二至四帶英文書,其他書留在家中溫習用)…..不過,因為我冇留意EVI親子蜜語,所以都唔知中文書要轉,好在星期一老師都俾左張memo我地通知轉”猴子”書同帶相~
2.     “小肌肉練習”係家長每星期在家同小朋友做的練習,做到就俾stamp,到15週完成後交回學校.
而中文兒歌 and 英文兒歌就留在家中溫習用.
3.     親子功課紙應該要盡快做,我每次都係第2日交,不過應該遲一日都得既…我見上次老師都出memo提醒未交既家長星期一要交回.
4.    你個囡上星期就提你咁叻? 我都係今個星期二阿囡放學後話睇左”小猴子長大了”我至記得同佢換書咋…阿囡都話有同學冇帶,我諗我地真係要keep住check個網喇…..


其實你有嘅問題應該好正常,我都有….好似太多野要自己搵答案咁…..以後有咩唔明就post出黎問吓其他家長啦~

My child is studying in NCC but I didn't receive any notes from the Teacher.  I found the info. from the EVI and 通告 only.  That means different class has different practices?

我個囡係NCA, 我諗應該每班老師做法都唔同,不過學既野都係一樣的....可能我班太多人唔識帶書,所以老師要另外寫紙仔
再睇番d通告,原來MON-FRI都要帶主題書....咁我即係幾個禮拜五都冇帶喇  幼稚園執書包都咁麻煩,小學都唔知點算

Hi yy2009,
I face similar problem as you do. NCD's teachers also do not send out reminder notes and my girl often forgets what she was told at school....
1. Our teachers in the orientation week told us to bring 主題書 Mon-Fri and the two English books Tues-Thurs. This matches with the 親子蜜語.
2. I learned from EK and later confirmed from 親子蜜語 that the 3 books are to be kept at home, except finish the small muscle training and give the stamped, signed book to classmistress on 12 Dec.
3. Finish those 親子功課紙 when you find them in the schoolbag and hand back the next day.
4. You can find 主題書 cycle in the school calendar.

After 1.5 months, I learn that we should check the EVI on Wed and Fri for notices and watch out 親子蜜語 which might inform us to bring along stuff (with short notice - like those 4R photos).

I agree that it helps if we remind each other (by posting here?)  if we find some notices etc which need immediate attention. Let's do that together. :)

Thanks a lot for your sharing and I think we have to check EVI frequently and remind each other.  

Sometimes my girl can tell me little about the lessons but she always says "she doesn't know" when I ask her about the school.  I am quite worrying that my girl cannot understand what the teachers have taught.  

My girl told me she was invited to go to the stage yesterday during morning exercise to say "God bless you" and she was so excited.  She also said the teacher has taught chinese words like 口, 手, 杯.

My girl is NCA.  All your kids look great.  They can tell you what teacher taught in class.  My girl just tells me what she played at school everyday and who she make friend with and who performed bad behaviour...  However,  the most I concern is what teacher taught and I referred the books with her, she said " I don't know... I'm not sure..."

don't worry mommies!! i am a mommy of a LKA girl and i did go through what you are experiencing now.  indeed, you must regularly check the 友親子密語 which you receive by the end of every month.  in addition to the EVI, do check the intranet of SHCK which has full details of each notice (EVI doesn't have all notices but the intranet does).  
the school calender is also a useful helper that you can find what books and activities the kids will need to use and will have.  SHCK always use "week" instead of date, so do check the school calender for "第幾週" so that you know when to change the books and what to submit at that week.
i do have a calender for my girl only.  i put all due dates and special activities on the calender upon receipt the 親子蜜語。since the kids will have to do the "show and tell" every alternative week, i do put down "ST" on fridays that my girl has to the show and tell.  by doing this, i wouldn't forget to prepare with her the material for the presentation.
have a look at the calender every night and make sure you've put everything your kid needs for the following day.
one more thing, don't worry if your kid cannot tell what happen at school as other kids do, most kids usually cannot tell what exactly happen every day.  their schedule is very tight and each kid may not do the same thing as other kids do even they are in the same class because they are always split into groups for different activities.  you will understand what i am talking about after the 觀課日。i asked the teacher last year if they really taught books page by page...and the answer was NO.  they only use the books sometimes and would have other supplementary teaching materials which is related to the theme of the book....
again, don't worry if your kids are still like daydreaming for the most of time, it's ok if they enjoy the school and you don't receive complaints from the teacher, hahahaha! if you want to know more about your kid, i would suggest writing your concern down on the handbook so that teacher can reply you when she has time.  one more thing, do check the 親子蜜語 and learn the songs of the month.  it would be great if you can sing the song with your kid, they would be very happy as mommy and daddy know what he/she has learnt from school and can sing with them together!!

就是老師說的"親聞分享"或"談話活動"。小朋友帶點東西(相呀，圖畫呀，報紙等等)回校在同學面前分享。但我已忙記了亞囡舊年是由第幾週開始這個活動，一般是跟學號分A/B組，一個星期A組，一個星期B組。

Thanks for Sheffield's sharing.  I think I am too nervous and excited at the beginning of the school.  Maybe both parents and the children have to take some time to adopt the school life.
