There are some centres that provide adult phonics class and also privately runned ones too.

I attended an adult phonics class with a Chinese-Canadian teacher and she was really great at explaining how to review with my kids.

我之前都有學過 ipa (國際音標) 同phonics，諗住第日可以教自己個小朋友。上完堂之後發現 ipa 比 phonics 好，因為ipa 先可以有純正o既發音，查字典搵返音標就識讀。個老師Dr. Esther LAI (可能好多人識佢) 同佢啲導師都好好心機o架，等我小朋友大個啲，我都會用返 ipa教返佢。

請問什麼是ipa? 可否詳細d介紹一下, 同埋跟Dr. Esther LAI或佢d導師貴唔貴o架? 約1堂多少錢?

我都想學ipa因為音準好過phonics,見過好多介紹,想問下你,英文程度係咪一定要高先掌握倒???係咪無了期咁學還是上晒堂就完成.THANKS

我覺得要視乎小朋友的年紀而定。我的小朋友兩歲多開始學phonics，三歲開始讀英文書，入小學先學ipa。如果小朋友得兩三歲，ipa比較難同埋佢地未必有興趣隻隻字都要查字典先識讀。我的小朋友升小一前可以識睇唔少英文書，對英文有興趣，自然對發音有興趣，學ipa只係好短時間就掌握。

學咗國際音標讀音會準好多, 以前我讀音唔準&記生字記得好差, 國際音標可以幫助你記個生字深刻啲&讀得準啲

Phonics still very important for the young kids, and no need to hurry to learn the IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet), becuase is not hard, you know the ipa symbols well then is not difficult.

Phonics still very important for our students, We teach Phoincs when they are K1 until F7. But I start teach them IPA when they are P5 or P6.

Take it easy!

IPA and Phonics

I majored in Linguistics in university. I think IPA ia better for someone who can recognize all the alphabets, A to Z clearly. Phonics is only a study of letters combination. There are so many loopholes. Honestly, Phonics is good for toddlers and Primary 1- 3 students, but not everyone. In fact, Phonics is rather easy if you have learnt IPA first.
