Brima,
My elder son is studying IB MYP in a DSS. In fact, there is only one DSS offering MYP in Hong Kong. Just go to the IBO website, you will find it. In this school, there are some ex-Pegasus students studying in the upper forms and they are doing well. In my son’s class, three students are from Pegasus. One of the Pegasus girl achieved very outstanding scores last year. I think my son is below average but he is getting better this year.
In the first term of From 1, the learning life is easy, seems not much to do. As a parent, I actually didn’t know too much what was going on in his studies. But, starting from the third term in Form 1, the workload was getting higher and higher.
This year, he is in Form 2. The learning life is proceeding in full gear. They need to do a lot of projects. Of course, the projects are real project and not easy-going ones as Pegasus’. Right now, a Sunday afternoon with lovely sunshine, he is working hard for a project with his classmates at my home.
The workload of IB is actually high, the standard is high too. However, the teachers do not put too much pressure to the students. As such, students have to be disciplined and dedicated to the studies or else they will lag far behind the mainstream.
Other than self-discipline and good learning attitude, English proficiency is a must. Besides Chinese which are taught in PTH, all other subjects, including PE and Personal Development, are taught in English. All text books and studying material are not local ones.
Hope it can help in your school search.
