Primary 1 - Interview

All Parent,
Has anyone invited for the interview in October. Can anyone kindly suggest what should be prepared? My daughter study at the St Paul's Day Nursery and we has training her basic questions will that enough, things like; member of family, home address, parent occupations, recent school info .etc.

Thank you for reply and i am still panic abt the interview. I hope all the training questions that we prepare can be good enough to handle by only 5 years old girl.
Since we are living in Western distict and St Paul's Convent is in Causeway Bay, too far for her to go to school. Knowing many parents are applying for St. Clare's School and it only have 2 classes only for primary one. It going to be a tought competition. Any parents have their daughter who study beside of St. Clare's Kindergarten can share what's like in the interview last year.

我都是今年替囡囡報考st. clare's 入讀2009 p1.  同eminent 一樣, 都極希望囡囡能入讀這所學校.  參加完小一簡介會, 呢種感覺有增無減! 雖然校舍比較小, 講真, 個禮堂都有少少嚇我一跳 - 真係好耐未見過咁細ge禮堂. 但係, 學校實事求是, 雖然係名校, 但係作風低調有內涵, 而學校講明佢地會以"品"字行先, 加上校監有力而實在說話, 校長親切ge笑容 (我未見過一個校長, 可以全程都係微微咀甜笑架, 我係小朋友見到都鐘意!), 老師亦和藹可親.  雖然都有報其他學校, 但st. clare's 係我最, 最, 最鐘意的一間!

雖然校長講, 如果報讀人數多, 佢地會考慮開3班(本來得兩班), 但係簡介會席間, 聽到有幼稚園媽咪講, 如果非st. clare's 幼稚園ge學生, 通常都只會係後備, 機會唔高!  請問st. clare's primary 媽咪, 外來生入讀機會情況係咪真係咁唔樂觀呀? 剛剛過去一年, 知道st. clares's 大概收左幾多外來生呀? 多謝!

Hello AhMe,

Just want to share with you my experience here. My daughter was a non St. Clare's kindergartern student but she was admitted to P.1 after the interview. I think it really depends on the total no. of K3 students remain in the school for P.1 in the next academic year and the school is also looking for students with acceptable abilty so that they won't find it too hard to catch up with the school work. I noted that the school does leave a certain portion of admission for new applicants (i.e. non K3 students) and they will select children with adequate capability during the interview. I reckon the P.1 interview was not too demanding as it covers questions like personal info, simple single-digit addition, english conversation and drawing. As long as your child acquired the basic technique for P.1 interview, I don't think it's too hard to get a place. Wish your daughter good luck with the interview and hope to see you in the school!

真係好多謝你o既分享! 請問, 整個面試過程需時多少? 我知道學校係唔會面見家長的, 到時家長係咪會被安排睇video呀? 其實外來生入讀st. clare's "戰況" 算唔算好激烈?

Hi AhMe,

I recalled that the inteview lasts for 20 - 30 minutes. The school staff brought our daughter to the interview room upstairs and we were waiting at the lobby of the school office. There's no interview for the parents and no viedo either (in our occasion only but I'm not sure if there's any change nowadays). As there's ample time, I was looking around at the trophies and certificates that were displayed at the lobby.

I reckon it won't be too competitive when compared to other highly reputable schools. As i said, the school is looking for children with adequate ability for matching the school standard, otherwise the child will find it difficult to catch up with the school work.

你提及English conversation, 係唔係只係傾吓計渣? 因為一直以黎, 關於一d面試普通ge問題例如住係邊, 我只係教左佢中文回答! 咁至於姓名, 年齡, 佢用英文都會答到ge!  咁樣問題大嗎?  希望囡囡醒醒定定...可以順利過關!

Hello AhMe,

According to my daughter, she vaguely remembers the following questions in her conversation with the interviewer:

1) Basic greeting such as “How are you”, “What’s your name”, “What’s your hobby”, etc.


2) Name the picture that was shown on the cards, such as “melon”. Etc. (that’s all she can remember!)

I’ll try to ask around the parents of the P.1 students and see if they have any updated info. When’s the interview with St. Clare’s?

不必太擔心外來生入學機率的問題，只要孩子表現自然有禮貌、專心應對就可以反映出家教、家長期望....Mrs Wong定可以看出。反而我認為追求答案的準繩是次要。
因為我女兒也是外來生，當年我沒有特訓她，只讓她開心愉快地去面試。之後我連面試內容也沒追問，只問她的感覺，她說喜歡極了。
至於Mrs Wong的笑容，她總是掛著;連訓示學生也是不慍不火的。我很安心女兒跟她的處事風格。

教訓小女時，我時刻記著:
"The hardest job kids face today is learning good manners without seeing any." 亦深信 :"Good manners will open doors that the best education cannot."
所以我十分喜歡學校的上下人員態度(包括掃落葉的校工姨姨)。小女亦朝"人不知而不慍"去面對同窗。
所以，面對面試，盡量令孩子表現良好的品格吧。

我地星期六, 10月25日面試.. 唔知點解.. 我星期五睇唔到你呢個回覆.. !!!.. 但實在太感謝bk媽咪.. 尤其係你地.. st. clare's 學生ge 媽咪...!  我只係千叮萬囑叫囡囡記住叫人早晨, 人家比野你記住要講唔該同多謝 (都查實由細教到大...) - 呵..佢出黎時我見佢手上有糖, 我多口問.. "嘩, 老師比架, 有無同老師講多謝呀?" 呀囡望住我.. "呀! 唔記得左潻媽咪!"  跟住我都無特別再問佢老師問左d 乜.. 淨係問佢有無用英文問呀? 呀囡都答無!.. 過左反而安心左! 依家靜靜等回音!
