My kid received a GH K2 offer for coming Sept.  I and my C6 are in headache now because if accept, my daughter needs to repeat K2.  Recently, my daughter is telling us that she will go to K3 after this summer.  She seems to be more mature than we expected.  But if go for GH, there will be a good back-up P1 seat.

She is early Dec 2007 kid.  The competition is too keen for her (as being a smallest kid) to get one seat from good private / DSS school but we're afraid of lucky draw.  But if repeat K2, we're afraid that my daughter will lose confidence because all of her KG classmates can go for K3 but not her.

Dear parents, would you please share your comments....  THANKS.

may we know what kinder she's going now? which net do you belong to? any good subsidized or government school? how many marks does you daughter has?

This is a real dilemma.

Pros:
1.德望真係好學校！校舍又新！學校又有錢，咁好多硬件既野都可以滿足到小朋友既需要！
2.一年起人生裡面唔算乜野！

Cons
1. 學校有錢（錢從哪裡來？）
2. 建議好好了解學校（同學費雜費）
3. 一年不算什麼，但係如果小朋友唔適應就幾麻煩架！

Ian版主都聆聽左K3既女兒做左個決定，可以參考一下！

其實GH都唔係100%直上小學, 而且細仔唔一定教唔到好嘅直資/私校, 大仔亦唔一定sure win. 如果小朋友而家讀緊嘅學校都唔差, 佢又讀得開心, 咁一動不如一靜啦

In fact, we originally applied K1 for Sept 2011 but was on waiting list. GH called us in late 2011 for our interest in K2 of Sept 2012. Interview was done and now get the offer.

Difficult to make up our decision.

Trust it is beneficial if you could discuss with your girl and analyst the situation with her. I agree with some other parents that being the youngest in the batch not necessary be harmful or less competitive. Especially, under the current K1 places allocation approach which pupils' ability is not the primary assessing factor or concern. If I were you , I would more likely for go GH. Good luck!

Correct me if I am wrong, your orginial plan is to let her repeat K1 last year in GH but it is now become a decision to let her repeat K2 next year.

Dec kid is really small, Mine is a Dec Kid too and I prefer to let her to repeat if she gets admitted to a Dragon school (K1 not the K2 though).  Unless your kid is really a mature one and you don't see any disavantage in her to compet the P1 admission, a one year delay won't hurt much

Try to explain to your kid and see her reaction.  She may give you a suprise just like the elder daughter of 版主 did.  See link below

I'm same situation as 版主 that my gal born in 08Nov. Even she study in Kowloon famous KG, I still afraid she face to keen competition when apply P1.

I didn't think to discuss with daughter because I guess she will like staying with her current classmates ( because she likes playing with some friends there) . Perhaps, I need to consider asking for her preference. But how to do (ask)? Can she understand the P1 seat mechanism?

What do u trade?
If ur kid is studying in "村校", no need to think, must be GH!
If ur kid is studying in another dragon kindergarten, must not be GH!
If ur kid is studying in a famous KG such as KV & CCKG, u can base on the school results in the current KG to make your decision.
It's time for you to analyse different factors but never let ur kid's decision to override ur will.

不如想遠少少，GH是否你的target小學，有冇信心在自行或大抽獎入到比GH小學先?
Dec細女在小一時會多少disadvantage,現repeat K2，但到時你會發覺都會有若干大大女同學，又或者你只是比那些＂一二月的大女"大馬3個月，學習絕對比做細女有優勢。

唔知你女讀開邊間，我女兒在德望讀到k2，很開心返學，老師很好，學校投放了很多資源

家長相處得很開心而且大家都好愛分享！

不多功課，相對根幼，德比較淺，但老師說下學期都會多同深架，老師個個都好好架，學校不時好多活動在校內同小朋友舉行，德育方面很注重！

都係個句，如果你杯茶是DGJS or SP Co-ed那類，就快些留番個位比其他人.
如果你心水津校是有一條龍中學，或至少是有直屬中學，你或許可以博一博，因始終每個人條件和運氣不同，但千祈唔好後悔。

我個女0810, 今年in完都係waiting. 當初我唔敢同佢申請k2, 驚咁少位仲難入; 不過宜家都唔知會唔會好似你咁好彩,
有得in又入到!
btw, 你有冇寫信去學校或者其他動作, 所以會call你?

Tell her the current state at a high level, a decision to be made and there are options. Guide her to imagine the potential changes / outcomes of different options. Let's see how does she react and she may have follow-up questions.
