dear all,

my situation is:

my thoughts:

at this moment, i am trying very hard to perusade my hubby to support my decision of choosing MPS. yet, he doesnt understand why people keep saying MPS is good in English. unlike DGS, school can pick those girl with good background, but for MPS, it is not easy for the school to maintain good standard since girls go in by the "mark system"
frankly, i chose this sch because this is the first choice for most people living in hk side and i 've never thought that i will be lucky enough to get an offer.
in this connection, can any MPS mom enlighten me how the english environment in MPS is?  i really need some more evidence to perusade my hubby..many many tks.

gogocat,

My daughter got an offer from MPS in the upcoming September in P1.

My perspective is:
- The culture of the School is a big consideration
- English standard should not be the only factor to consider taking Traditional School or International School
- How about Chinese Language in mid-long term development to your daughter?
- Homework loading should be a factor to consider whether to cope with your expectation or not
- Do you have any expectation about the peer group of your daughter in primary school as peer group influence is dominant at teenager
- You might think the scenario behind why you let your daughter to study International School before

My two cents...

Hi gogocat,

My daughter is going to P1 in 2008. When you compare MPS with international school, I think you need to consider:

1. English standard in MPS is good when compared with other local schools
2. Chinese standard of international school is low. Actually, Chinese is more difficult to learn than English.
3. Culture of international school. Discipline is a concern.
4. MPS is a girl school. If you have two girls in international school, the way they play with boys is different.
5. Financial situation is also a concern as you have two.

Hope these help.
