I found 3 very useful websites today. They are suitable for parents and secondary students:
1. WordReferece.com Language Forums:

You can ask English usage questions here and there'll be immediate responses from native speakers. But you have to search the forums first because someone else may have asked the same question before.
2. Two pronunciation websites where you can input or paste some text (250 or 300 characters) and choose a male / female voice of British or American English accent to read it:

I found another one today. It explains clearly the 3 different ways to pronounce verbs in past tense ending in -ed:
http://www.eflnet.com/tutorials/finaled.php
In short,
if the original verb ends with the sound (not spelling): p,k,f,s,sh,ch,th, then after adding -ed, the verb is pronounced with 't', eg. "shipped" is pronounced like "shipt"
if the orginal verb ends with 't' or 'd' sound, then after adding -ed, the verb is pronunced with an extra 'ted' or 'ded', eg. in "faded" (like "飛凸d")
for all others, the verb is pronounced with 'd' at the end, eg. "weighed" is like "wayd", not "way凸"

FreeRice is a game to improve the player's vocabulary and at the same time help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free. For every word that you can guess its meaning right, 10 grains of rice will be donated by the advertisers to the starving people through the United Nations World Food Programme.
