More and more families turn away from local schools because of the drilling and pressure. So here I assume that you will not go back to local primary schools.
Both ESF and VSA ( Victoria's primary and secondary school) follow the IB stream and all students will take the IB exam in the end. You can go to the 国际学校 to find out more about the IB exam performance of VSA and ESF students. If I remember correctly the percentage of students achieving above 34 points are very close for both schools.
ESF teaches children Chinese in Simplified characters but extends the leniency for students to choose to write in Traditional characters. VSA teaches in Traditional Characters.
In terms of English proficiency, most ESF students speak English predominantly even at home with their parents, but VSA students speak both English and Cantonese.
As for family mix, most VSA families are 回流 families where parents have had education in Europe of America. ESF is more ethnically diverse.
Victoria kindergarten is very expensive now and gives quite a bit of homework to students while ESF is still homeworkless most of the time.
To get into VSA, you must be a Victoria kindergarten student and likewise to get into ESF primary, chances are very low for non ESF kindie graduates.
Victoria kindergarten and VSA is halfway between local and international while ESF is an international school all the way through.
