Re: average no. of subjects taken by HKDSE candidates.
Taking DGS figure as an example.DSE 2016
953 (subject entry)/140 students = 6.81
More students are taking 2 electives only in the last few years.
There were a few schools with students taking average of 7 subjects or more in 2012.
However, I believe it's difficult to find schools with their students taking average of 7 subjects anymore.

St Paul's Convent. School report P.40. Jupas and non-Jupas added together, 51.5% admitted to HKU/CU/UST.
Only 84 of 138 S.6 students taking DSE.

To my understanding of the data in MCS annual report, the figure 74.3% is not JUPAS offer, but degree courses students accepted instead, it's the result instead of offers. Therefore the percentage should be put under the last category i.e. local degree courses,  rather than JUPAS offer (which include offers to degree and non-degree courses, there is no such information given in the report indeed).

May be I am confused and misinterpreted. There is a column with heading JUPAS degree adjacent to the JUPAS (8U). I thought then the % you calculated should put under that column. Some schools only present the JUPAS offer figure (includes non-degree courses) and therefore I thought those figures should put under JUPAS (8U).
Please point out the meaning behind the 2 columns to me.

Thanks for the clarification. That means the last column should be local degree courses (Jupas and non-Jupas) since the previous column should be Jupas offer degree courses.
If this is correct, the data for St. Paul Convent should include students taking DSE and GSE for the local degree courses.
In their annual report, the last column of the table about exit students shows info on local degree of their graduates (include non-Jupas). Then the percentage should be 68.8% (23.2% overseas & 8% AD/HD).

Thanks again.

Thanks again for the quick reply.
Indeed, in the case of St. Paul Convent, just don't understand why the figure of 79.8% at the last column.
It only represents the the statistics of the group of 84 DSE students out of 138 graduates. As more than half of the students who took GCE did apply to local university. Why don't use the total number and percentage of the F.6 graduates instead, as the information is available. If we are to compare the performance of schools, unless data is not available, it would be fair to use statistics of all graduates.

Sorry for troubling you again.

I really appreciate both you and hkpapa in collecting data to help parents to learn more about the performance of school in DSE for the last few years.
It's tedious work and require lots of patience that spread across months of time.
Of course, many parents are helping as well.

Thanks again. You and hkpapa deserve to receive great applause from us.
