ISF 和 SIS 大家会怎么考虑？

ISF幼稚园很大机会去ISF academy. SIS 就可以一条龙了。都是双语。其他方面呢？

Not fully though, in SIS secondary there's one or two Singaporean english teacher. But my eldest daughter tells me that she loves that Singaporean english teacher and apparently she is the best english teacher in secondary, but she said that teacher is really strict. Your 3 kids are in primary? My two younger girls are in primary section too, which grade are they in?

No such problem for my 3 kids.  According to my observation, no such problem for almost all students.  

Regarding your friend - the SIS teacher, I believe he/she is not teaching English.   Most likely, Singaporean teachers teach Maths / Science etc.

請問讀SIS 的學生英文有Singlish 的特徵嗎？因為識一個SlS老師, 他講typical Singlish, 因为他来自Singapore!

Ib language a Chinese 是超超難。我朋友LPC 畢業，就系chi a.佢話四書五経文學讀到嘔。不過佢仍manage 到，佢系local 中學入LPC

新加坡數學課程係深過local，你去書局攞幾本補充睇吓、比較吓，就一目了然。

I have kids studying in P3 and P1 in SIS.  Generally, English standard of SIS is higher than local HK schools', I believe.  But the systems are different, so it is difficult to put in real terms - how many years ahead of the local schools'.

For Math, I think SIS's standard is similar to local schools'.   But, the systems are different, too.   SIS uses Singaporean Math teaching methods, with more use of 'models' and more explanations about the concepts behind, etc.

If you want to understand more, you can get online SIS's homepage to have a glimpse of the teaching materials / syllabus etc.

想請教讀緊SIS家長，新加坡的英文英數科目是不是比其它學校深及內容不同？因為我幫仔仔報了今年暑假到新加坡讀英文英數，是全日制的。我考慮如他合適，打算報SIS或在當地留學。請指教。

I am curious in getting comments of professors of the program of these English B students. How are their abilities when compared to English A students? Especially writing skills and speaking skills.
If we see that HKU LLB is accepting more and more English B students in the coming years, we can be sure they are happy with their decisions. Let's wait for a few more months and see how it goes this year.

我的三個女兒之前是在ISF讀的，今年轉到SIS （大女中三，二女小四，細女小一）. 我個人來講比較喜歡SIS 因為學習風氣好d, 畢竟我是新加坡人，還是覺得東方傳統教育。ISF 其實也是一個非常好的學校，特別是小學，我兩個細女很enjoy，特別是細女（Foundation)，大女在中學就很不同，功課比SIS少很多，大多都是一些essay，但她跟我說覺得很沒有挑戰性 （她以前是在local primary school )， 所以就想轉校，而且到Grade 8 （中二）年尾有15個學生退學，一個班只有很少人。ISF 和 SIS 比較，ISF 是一個happy school, promote creativity etc. SIS 是一個 learning based school, 學生的能力很高，我很喜歡 SIS 中四要考 IGCSE， 之後才考 IB。 至於小學，SIS 教的比較快和深入，ISF 小學就注重中文多，講求愉快學習，沒有很多考試。但要記得SIS是用簡體，兩間學校的英文都很不錯，學生之間都是用英文溝通，老師也很友善。

Different U's and different courses have different preferences.  I don't recommend taking English B.  Even if it works for U admission, it doesn't mean the candidate is competitive after graduation.  For Chinese B, it still works if the future job is not too demanding on Chinese.  However, these jobs are getting fewer and fewer.  Even city (law) firms need to deal with Chinese corporates, if not opened an office in China already.

I don't think HKU LLB welcomes English B.  I understand that the requirement for taking IETLS (even for candidates with 7 in English A Lit.) in PCLL application comes from the Law Society of Hong Kong rather than the 3 U's.

前排聽一選 Eng B 学生分享, 他去年科大 business 畢業, 現在一 consulting 公司工作, 他說當年選 Eng B 因覺得比較適合自己, 當年未有 lang & lit. 今時今日競爭大了讀 eng B 会否蝕底D就唔知啦

Agree, 其實不用over analyse, 看大方向比較緊要
