I dare not comment another school. SC did arrange everything for kids and parents. For what above stated "no", we can enjoy all above in SC. We have many activities. We have song books at home. We have special CD to let parents know how to revise the teaching curriculum in both English and Madarin with kids. We have advanced notice of 4-week-plan in the school. Kids are requested to do 2 pages of homework in K2 and 1 page of homework in K1. That's good enough for training their little hands. SC is also very informative. It provides some websites to parents so that we can play some games with kids at home. Besides, we have to buy some flash cards so that kids can play and learn the vocabulary while playing with parents. It seems that parents are also being trained up how to guide our kids.
Parents are suggested to read story books with kids every day. Parents and teachers need to drop some comments on a note book after reading.
SC encourages students to join some public competition such as HK Speech Festival while KV won't support kids in these activities. That's what KV moms told us.
Certainly one coin has two faces. Everything has its pros and cons. SC students may not learn so many Chinese characters and difficult mathematcis as KV. Honestly, so far I am very satisfied with SC teaching approach in Chinese too. It is not the same as some rumors that kids won't learn any Chinese in SC. Even though this is an active based school, teachers do care about the discipline of kids. My daughter told me that teachers always remind them to say "thank you, you're welcome, excuse me" in K1. |
