URGENT-Catholic

Dear All,

Can anyone who is Catholic can give me a PM. I have a question to ask re Catholic.

As my family have No religion. But want to be a Catholic, what are we going to do next?

In the same time I want to send my girl to 主日學，but the church told me they only allow kid who is 5 years old. So if I become a Catholic and have a 領洗paper. Will my kid have 5 marks when she apply Primary in the future?

Do I need to bring my kid to the church in Sunday as well together with me?

Did my husband have to go as well and to be Catholic as well?

You can call a nearby church and ask them if they have a class for people who want to be Catholics.
It is August now so you have to go to church every Sunday until Easter because they only have baptism ceremony on Easter Day.
The church will ask if you want your kid baptize with you on the same day. Your kid will start going to Sunday school after he baptize with you.

I think you should check with a Catholic church nearby re: procedures. To my understanding, you or your husband have to be baptised first. Then you have to get married at a Catholic church in order to get the recognition. Then your kid, if below 3 years old, can be baptised. If they are over 3 years, can't unless they attend the Sunday school.

Maybe different church has different policy. As I know kids can baptize with mother or father until 12 years old or older than that. They are catholics at that time but they shouldn't take the holy meal until they study in Sunday school. That's why children have to go to Sunday school and learn more about Bible and Mass.
By the way, if the parents don't take their kids to church after they baptize, the church won't force you to go there every Sunday.

Call one which is near your home and ask them your questions, except the question about if your daughter get 5 more points after she becomes a Catholic.

I am 100% sure you don't need to marry in a Catholic church to get a baptism.

Agree that you should check with the church.

Also agree with aunt_kelly that you do not need to get married at a church to become Catholic yourself. But if your ultimate objective to get your kid baptised, then I think you have to get married at a Catholic church.

But better to check with the church.

各聖堂在舉辦領洗班的安排(如時間)上會有不同，但領洗入教的原則和意義是一樣的，你要先明白你將信的是什麼，願意接受、跟隨耶穌，相信天主。

成年領洗要研習教理約一年半，認識道理並信後才領洗入教。即如你在今年(06年8月)報慕道班，待下下年(08年復活節)便可領洗。

If I can afford I don't mine.
I will see after my son attend CKY in this coming Sept. If is good and affordable, of course.
I am asking all those question and doing all those things, just in case.

讀到名校, 搵到好工, 又點呀?
一家人, 有咩學樣,將來大左, 咪又係貪小便宜, 走捷徑的叨人.
真吾明, 又會有其他家長比提議, 吾通有甘多呢類家長??

I am not only sending my kids to Chuch and stay at home watching TV.
I want to be a Catholic when I was young (I am studying in a Catholic school all the way. But I think now is a good timing. Because my kids do not have anymore activities on Sunday morning-before they are having Golf and drawing lessons). THerefore we can all go together.
If I only want to get the 領洗紙ONLY, I think I should do it in last year, as my son was applying primary at that time.
My thinking to let my kids to Church was because I think is good for a children to have religous. If I only wanted to get 5 points, there is no way to let my son and my girl to go together.

And sorry to let you know that there is no way for my girl to get 5 points because to go to 慕道班(adult)and 主日學(kids). We need 2 years to complete the programm.

I support you. If you believe in God, you can trust him with his arrangement. As a Catholic, I believe that no matter what reason, going to church is a chance for God to talk to you. It maybe the best time to join the Catholic family now if you can make a phone call to any church.
